It seams to automaticly self defrost, draining into the trat below.

The drain on the back is blocked. You should find a small plastic P-Trap just below the freezer. Remove it, soak in bleach and hot water for 30 minutes, rinse and shake clear.

You have a drain that is freezing up. Pull the cover off the bottom back inside the freezer and bend the heat element down closer to the aliminum drain tray. It is too far away to heat the aliminum trat. The element is black and it is below the evaporator coil which has fins on it.

Most times when coils freeze up it is due to the failure of the automatic defrost circuit, specifically either the defrost thermostat or the defrost timer. Occasionally it is the drain under the coils somehow gets clogged and the water from the defrost cycle doesn't drain. If you have water in the fridge side or water forming ice outside the back panel in the freezer the defrost is probly working and the drain is clogged. YOU MUST GET ALL THE ICE OUT OF THE DRAIN. Hair dryer, hot water, etc must be applied. Water MUST flow freely to the drain pan below.

There are many reasons for this happening for example water leaking from a water supply line for the dispenser or ice maker, a crack in the defrost pan, water leaking inside and draining through the refrigerator cabinet, but most are cased by a defrost drain line blockage. The drain hole is plugged. Probably with ice now. Needs to be fully defrosted with a heat gun or hairdryer, be sure drain is free by pouring hot water into it and seeing it get to the pan below the machine. If this persists you need to troubleshoot the automatic defrost circuit. Could be bad defrost timer.

Today, all but the smaller, apartment-sized refrigerators are self-defrosting. Self-defrosting means what it implies--though frost continues to accumulate inside the refrigerator, it melts automatically. The self-defrosting system has three functional components:

Defrost heater
Defrost thermostat.
Defrost timer The timer is like a clock. It continually advances, 24 hours a day. Every 6 to 8 hours, the timer turns off the cooling system of the refrigerator and turns on the defrost heater.

Defrost heater The defrost heater is similar to the burners on an electric stove. It's located just beneath the cooling coils, which are concealed behind a panel in the freezer compartment. The heater gets hot. And, because it's close to the cooling coils, any ice or frost build-up melts.

As the frost and ice melt, the resulting water drips into a trough. The trough is connected to a tube that drains the water into a shallow pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. The water is then evaporated by a fan that blows warm air from the compressor motor over the pan and out the front of the refrigerator.

Defrost thermostat The process ends after either the amount of time specified on the timer or when the defrost thermostat near the cooling coils senses that the heat near the coils has reached a specific temperature.
