LG dishwasher LDF6810ST doesn't dry dishes anymore. Added more rinse aid like manual suggested but no luck. Also dishes don't seem to be as clean, some food is left behind, which wasn't a problem before. I use Cascade detergent and Jet Dry. There are no error messages displayed. Help!

SOURCE: LG LDF6810ST Dishes Wet

To save energy, the LG LDFx810 dishwasher product family does not turn on the heating element during the drying cycle (third blue light blinking) rather it brings the final rinse water up to a high temp (I think it is 160 degrees (f)) and then uses a condensing drying system (mounted in the door) to pull the wet, hot air from inside the dishwasher. When it works, the dishes come out pretty dry (except for some plastics)

Check this:
-When the DW does its final drain, confirm that the water drained into the garbage disposal is really hot and not just warm. Be careful to not burn yourself and use a meat thermometer if you have one.

- After the water drains for the final time and the dishwasher blinks the third light, put you hand under the left hand side of the DW door. There is a slot down there that should be exhausting warm air.

If either thing is not happening, it is time to get a professional to check things out and make repairs.

Our dishes are not being cleaned well with residue left on plates and cutlery and the light next to the rise aid is on at the end of the wash

I have had the same problem a time or two. Make sure that you don't overload the dishwasher and nothing is blocking the spout where the water comes out. Also if you haven't done so already, you may want to add some detergent to the pre wash. Make sure you have enough detergent for the regular wash cycle also....Hottest water possible (at least 140 degrees F). If all that doesn't help, try cleaning them on heavy wash. Check to make sure the rinse aid level is still full. I have also found it easier if you rinse the dishes or cutlery off before putting them into the dishwasher. If none of the suggestions work I say changing your dishwashing detergent and/or rinse aid.Good Luck!

When the wash cycle is done, the dishes are wet

It seems that the newer dishwashers are worse at drying dishes than their tupperware melting predecessors were. They have all been tuned down, and do dry less. The only thing that you can do is to set your machine for the hottest wash, power dry and use a rinse agent that provides a sheeting action. Some folks use white vinegar as a supplement to their rinse aid, which has the added bonus of killing mold. Water also stays attached if the water has laid down minerals as noted by cloudy glassware. If this is the case, a dishwasher filter (dishwasherfilter.com, $70) might help. We try to wash hot, with a power dry and use a rinse aid/vinegar. Then, when the cycle is complete, but the dishes are still hot, we open the dishwasher, and "jiggle" the racks to get the excess water off of the glasses, and leave the dishwasher open about 2" at the top, so the dishes will continue to air dry. This has been an effective method for us.

Rinse will not work

I recommend that you contact LG service support number, with your model number and serial number. Describe to them that your dishes are chronically not drying (not just the plastic items.) If you have ever noticed leaks from the lower, left door panel, mention that too.
Firmly but politely press them to dispatch a repair tech to install the retrofit kit that was developed to solve the drying problems. Over the phone, don't mention the rinse aid. It will only confuse the service folks. (The rinse aid issue will get taken care of during this retrofit.)
Good Luck!

Dishes do not come out clean?

is the salt container cap damaged or loose? is the rinse aid topped up? if all ok then are you scraping most of the food from the plates, this can cause old food to mush, pulp and leave grit on dishes.

LG LDF6810ST Stainless Built In Dishwasher

It is very common that high eficiency, low water using dishwashers take longer to finish all cycles. The best way to "hurry" the washing is to make sure that the water heater is providing hot water of at least 120 degrees. But no hotter then 140 degrees.
If the dishwasher runs even longer, check to see is the dishwasher is actually connected to the cold water line. This dishwasher can be run from cold water but the water heating phase in the cycles will add much time ti the entire cycle.

This unit has a sensor that detects the detects the water clarity towards the end of the wash cycle. Rinsing the dishes may speed the load a little, but encourage not to go crazy on the rinsing because the dishwasher actually counts on the food particles to help clean the dishes.
Also, note that the final (third) blinking light means drying. You can simply open the door anytime after the final draining and power off the dishwasher, allowing the hot dishes to air dry.
Hope this helps. Please resply with your findings. Thanks!

Drying problem

Hi,
As I had the same problem, I worked on my machine and found out the heater unit was not working (it is a brand new machine ! - remark : as I moved overseas, LG did not cover it with their warranty).
But back to what I did : I ran the check program (instructions can be found in the Service Manual) and verified it was sending voltage to the heater on step 36. So I checked the heater unit (in the bottom of the machine) and found it was burned or open. So I ordered a new heater assembly ($40 on eBay), replaced it myself and am completely happy with the results.
Remarks : the heater is powerful enough to heat cold water to the temperatures required (I don't have hot water in the faucet); it seems that the heater also produces heat for the drying cycle (my dishes were completely wet at the end of the cycle before, now they get completely dry). My only disappointment, mentioned by some in the forum, is that the outlet during the drying cycle is in the bottom of the door, so steam condensates into droplets on the kitchen floor. But now I get clean dishes, and this machine is amazingly silent and efficient. Good luck to you !

Are you using a rinse aid like Jet Dry??  All dishwasher manufacturers now require that you use rinse aid for drying dishes at the end of the cycle.
