Disconnect the power cord and battery. Hold down the power button for a minute and then connect only power cord.
If not fixed:
Please scan your computer with free version of superantispyware:

IF not fixed: It is a screen hardware issue.

Were you running windows xp and then upgraded or replaced your operating system with Windows seven? If so, then your right - your problem did begin with windows seven.
There is an ethernet adapter driver in Windows xp that is not available in Windows seven. I would suggest going to Hp's website and click on support and then chat services and give them the info on your pc and ask for a link to download the driver you need to connect to the internet. they can assist you with this for free.

yes there is you would have to connect a monitor onto the vga socket on the laptop and connect a usb keyboard

Hi,
Turn on the notebook and press F10 to get into BIOS screen. Even if the lines and the black spot appears then the issue is with the internal hardware of the notebook.
To check further connect an external monitor to the notebook and press Fn and F4 keys on the keyboard to get the display on external monitor. If the external monitor display is fine then the issue is with the LCD screen or else the issue is with the Video card of the notebook.
