I have a 16GB 5th Gen iPod, and I am using a compatible (brand new) Hitachi AXM204UK Micro System. If your iPod nano won’t turn on or respond
1) Make sure the Hold switch is off.
2) If that doesn’t work, connect iPod nano to your computer’s USB or FireWire port. Your
iPod nano battery might need to be recharged.
3) If that doesn’t work, your iPod nano might need to be reset.
a) Toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold, and then turn it off again).
b)Press and hold the Center and Menu buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
4) If that doesn’t work, you might need to restore iPod nano software.

Also when you do a Restore it sets the Buttons inside the Logic Board back to original, but make sure to back up your music or you will lose everything. Hope this helps.
