well...for the future on this sort of issue, you can only expect someone to work from the available information. There is an answer to this, and if you wish, I will proceed. It's your call..frustration is apparent and undertstandable.

Nav mode dos not start; says fatal error encountered and system needs to shut down. Was working fine for 11 years and did this only a fortnight ago and will not run any more!

It sounds like there might be a software issue with the navigation mode on your device. Since you've already tried changing the SD card and it didn't fix the issue, it's possible that the problem is with the device's operating system or the navigation software itself.
Here are a few things you could try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Reset the device: Try resetting the device to its default settings. This might help if the problem is caused by a setting or configuration issue. To reset the device, look for a small pinhole on the device and use a paperclip or similar object to press the reset button.
  2. Reinstall the navigation software: If resetting the device doesn't help, try uninstalling and reinstalling the navigation software. You can do this by connecting the device to your computer and using the software that came with the device to install the software again.
  3. Check for software updates: Make sure that you have the latest software updates installed for both the device and the navigation software. You can usually check for updates through the device's settings menu or the software itself.
  4. Contact the manufacturer: If none of these steps work, it's possible that the device itself is faulty. Contact the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or suggest a repair or replacement.
Hopefully one of these steps will help you get your navigation mode working again. Good luck!

Displays error 1706 every time i use nmy computer

error_x.jpg What Causes Error 1706 Error 1706 is a critical Windows error and is caused by a corrupt registry entry that should be repaired immediately to prevent further corruption in other applications and/or hardware. Risks include hardware failure, blue screen errors and fatal crashes. I found this on the internet by typeing in Error 1706 at google. If you have Norton Tools you need to runit or some other Registery Repair software.

Fatal Error Message

I have an older one of these with the AV connections. once in a while it does not see GPS signals. If I exit navigation and from the main menu select setup, I can reset the GPS and then go back into navigation, this seems to cure the issue but it may return. I think the root cause is a low memory battery in the unit.
