When you descale them lime scale gets pushed into the air pump (the bit that runs at the end of the brew). To fix this you need to remove and dissasemble the air pump, clean the rubber diaphragm and put it back.

My tassimo lid won't open I put the milk pod in for a latte it made a noise and some milk spilt out and it won't open turned the machine off for a few days n the lid still won't open is it now broken ? As only had it for a few months
I found that my local appliance parts place (Reliable Parts) had them for about $7 each which was quite a bit less than ebay sellers and direct from Tassimo.
(Make sure yours is not hiding in its slot on the back of the machine.)_
I found that the cleaning disk puts through the correct amount of water but coffee disks don't. Suspect then that the problem is related to the pressure or flow from the system when disks are in , or the cutter part. I have now bought a new machine. I can swap this part across and check to see if this issue with non delivery of correct quantity of water its related to the suggested worn cutter.
After many months, I solved the problem of the red light staying on the Tassimo Coffee Maker. Use these easy steps.
1. Fill a 2 cup measuring cup with hot water.
2. Mix in descaler.
3. Pour in the empty water tank.
4. Put the yellow cleaning disk in the chamber and close chamber. Put the two cup measuring cup under the spout.
5. Push and hold the brew button for about 3 seconds (until the red and green light flash.
6. Now don't touch the machine. It will do it's thing for about 20 minutes. (Don't be impatient and start to push buttons, just leave it)
7. When it finishes it's cycle. The red light will turn off. Then clean the water tank and put fresh water and run clean water through the brewing cycle 4 times. Your machine is now ready for use.
Fill the water tank to the top and add your descaling solution, Insert the cleaning disc Press and hold the button on the front.
The descaling program will then run - it will take some time to complete and you may need to refill the water tank before the descaling program has finished.
Use a citric acid based descaling solution rather than a cleaning based solution.
You have to ensure the descaling function runs completely to the end.
Occasionally the water tank will be empty BEFORE the descaling program
has finished, in which case you should refill it and let it continue
descaling.
The light wiill automatically go off once the descaling program has been
fully completed.
I just corrected this problem. I diluted some CLR (calcium, lime and rest remover). I put the diluted solution is the water reservoir, I ran it through using the cleaning disk, I re-dumped the solution back into the reservoir. I did this repetitively for approx 30 minutes, then I left the machine alone for 30 minutes. I then ran a few reservoirs of clear water. PRESTO! I just made a latte that used ALL OF THE MILK PRODUCT....IT ALSO MADE THE NEAT LITTLE NOISE! A bit time consuming but it worked!
I do not have experience with milk or chocolate, but for coffee and tea, at the end of a brew cycle, the green light should flip to the MANUAL light. For the next 30 seconds you have the option to press and hold the start button, to force more hot water through the pod into your cup. Give this a try to purge the pod of it's goodies!
