The picture goes off, the power/standby light

Sony Grand WEGA KDF-60XS955

The picture goes off, the power/standby light light flashes, then the picture comes back on and then 30 seconds later the picture goes off. This just keeps repeating through this cycle. Purchased TV in June '05 and replaced lamp with Philips Lighting Sony XL-2200U replacement Television Lamp in April '09

Sony KDF-60XS955 picture goes and power/standby light light flashes

Hi,

Most likely you have bulb failure. First step in troubleshooting is "Change the Lamp or Bulb". Lightning, power line bumps and collisions with vacuum cleaners can all shorten lamp life. Rough handling in shipment can also happen without your knowledge.

+90% of all Sony LCD Rear Projector "No Picture or Intermittent Picture" faults are related to bulb failure.

If new lamp does not improve the situation, then hands-on troubleshooting by someone that has parts and knows how the unit works is the only practical remedy.

If the red light does not blink then no error code is found--I would begin by inspection of the lamp itself.

Bad solder connections on power supply board and look for any puffed up capacitors. if they are swollen or puffed up on top they are Bad.

Intermittent lamp turn off

I was told by the repair service to unplug the power cord for about 5min. This resets the internal computer. I think this helps but does not cure the cause. Good luck.

SONY GRAND WEGA

I have a KDF60XS955. When I power it on, the fan comes on, the standby light flashes green several times, the lamp comes on and the standby light goes to solid green. This lasts for less than 5 seconds then the lamp goes out, followed by ~30 green standby flashes, the lamp coming on with the solid green standby light for about 5 seconds then shuts off the lamp again. I can hear/feel the fan running the enitre time. This cycle continues endlessly. Please help!
