I would check the bottom of the unit to see if there is any blockage. I don't know if this unit has a switch that you set to switch from hose to floor. If so I would set it to floor and see if there is any suction in the hose, indicating a switching problem. If there is no suction in the hose, I would still check the bottom of the unit and disassemble it as much as you feel comfortable to see if you can see any blockage. Good luck!

Dirt not going into vacuum canister on dirt deval

It sounds like there is a clog in the hose itself if you have no suction from the end. If it is bagless remove the canister from the machine or if it is a bagged machine remove the bag. If you have a shop vac attach the hose from the shop vac to the end of the hose of the dirt devil and try to suck the obstruction out that way. Sometimes it is possible to remove the clog this way. You can tell if you have suction from the debris port to the bag or the canister. If not you may need to use a snake or coat hanger to pull the clog through.

My Dirt Devil en vision hose has good suction but zero suction at the bottom. Clean filter,no clogs.i know replacing the broken belt will make the brush turn. Will it enable suction also?

If you have fixed the suction at the bottom, a new tight belt is important when vacuuming carpeted floors. Belts lose elasticity from being stretched which is why they need replaced frequently.

Side hose suctions fine, but floor base does not suction.

You most likely have blockage at the bend in the suction tube below where the hose plugs in to the vac. Try using a coat hanger and see if you can remove any debris that way. Alot of vacuums have a screw that you can remove that will allow better access to this commonly clogged area. It will most likely be visable very near where you plug the hose back into the vacuum, when the hose is removed.

No suction on floor part

From your problem description, you may have a blockage in the foot. Check the intake under the vac by the roller.

Your problen sounds like it is in the foot of the vac. remove the bottom plate and look for an obstruction.

No Wind Coming Out of Dirt Devil

The suction hole will never have wind coming out of it, it is for suction. To switch from floor to hose, turn the control knob labeled floor / hose.

No suction

Check the main filter cone - if it has a rip in it, then there won't be any suction in it, also clean it gently with a paint brush to get all of the dust out and check the back of the upright after the bin is taken out as sometimes there is dirt clogged at the back. Check the front of the sole plate i.e. where the roller brush is and check the dust channel behind this as it can get clogged. Due to the nature of this vacuum with the hose being located at the front of the floor head dirt can be trapped but most of all its the paper pleated cone filter that needs a good brushing. Hope that helps.
