Its a case of teasing it out, a bit at a time if neccessary.

Taking the casing apart to enable easier access may be neccessary, but ensure all plugs are out.

Safest way is to disasemble enough to remove the sheet. IF you can CAREFULLY slice the sheet along the roller with a scapel you might be able to remove the wreckage with forcepts or tweezers.

Get it ALL out as it can do damage to the cartridges.

Why is there a black stripe on the backsid of the paper when I try and print?

you need to clean the bottom plate, heres how:
1 Make sure that the printer is on and then remove any paper from the Rear Tray.
2 Press the Open button to open the Paper Output Tray and extend the Output Tray Extension.
3 Fold a single sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in half widthwise, and then unfold the paper.
4 Load this and only this sheet of paper in the Rear Tray with the open side to the front.

(A) Load the paper after unfolding it.
5 Open the printer properties dialog box.

6 Click the Maintenance tab, and then Bottom Plate Cleaning.
7 Confirm the displayed message and click Execute.
The paper cleans the inside of the printer as it feeds through the printer.
Check the folded part of the ejected paper. If it is smudged with ink, perform Bottom Plate Cleaning again.
Important --
Even if the Cassette is selected as the paper source, paper will be fed from the Rear Tray.
Do not perform any other operation while the bottom plate is being cleaned.
If the problem is not resolved after performing cleaning twice, the protrusions inside the printer may be stained. Clean them according to instructions. See Cleaning the Protrusions Inside the Printer.

Paper pulls to the right, jams, won't print, tried different paper still won't print

Hi,
Sounds like the feed rollers need cleaning.
Clean the feed rollers, lint free cloth, bottled water.
wait for them to properly dry

Revolve the feed roller bar as you clean them, to clean the feed rollers all the way round, remove all particles from them.

Check you ADF grips are set correctly, if not you will get mis-fed sheets. check the tray is sat properly too or mis-feeds.

Check paper size is correct in print properties too.
Should be good then
Try print.

Regards
Richard.

Cannon pixma 1600

I had the same problem, and found that the sheet feeder mechanism was intermittent. The problem seems to be that the lubricating grease inside the mechanism.(white nylon round thing with gears on it) becomes too slippery and stops picking up the activating arm which allows the cam unit to move to kick the top sheet of paper into the rubber feed wheel.
The repair was extremely difficult because it involved taking most of the printer apart to get to the ink pump/sheet feeder mechanism.(white nylon round thing with gears on it), and then I tried quite a few lubricants (including no lubricant at all) but none of these worked reliably. Finally I tried a dab of automotive wheel bearing grease (it feels like glue), and this worked perfectly. I have had no more paper jam errors and no miss-feeds in about 7months of everyday use.
