I downgraded from windows vista to xp, in the cause of this i lost my ethernet, network, video, pci device and sm bus controller drivers software for sony vaio pcg 6p2m.
You can find all the drivers Except the sm bus controller on Sony's web site. If you have a ATI Graphics board, go to there site to get the SM bus controller drive.

What happened to Windows 7 Support?
Downgrade to Windows XP until everything is ready to re install.
One of the joys of owning a Windows computer... Get used to it.
Can you upgrade to Windows 8?
Perhaps your Sony PC is just getting too Old.
Good Luck
Your Notebook Manufacturing Company SONY says that your Notebook Model VGN-SZ460N/C is optimized to work with Vista OS only. So the drivers you will be installing for XP may lost some of their functionality under XP platform. Still, you can download all your Notebook supporting drivers from this link.
As it sits right now, it looks like you have to downgrade to XP, since Sony is not posting Vista drivers for that model. I would email their support department and ask them if you can have access to the drivers, since you have already upgraded.
If I were them, I would post the drivers, but say they won't support any upgrades, rather than not making the drivers available, unless of course sony hasn't written any drivers, which is entirely possible.
