Oxidation from humidity could have tarnished a connector somewhere. Make sure all connectors are clean and shiny first. It could be that the receiver is bad. A stereo shop should be able to check that for you easily.

Clarion Marine Problem w Sirius CeNet Unit

When a CD changer or Sirius satellite receiver is added to a system, the source unit’s main wiring harness must be disconnected before the changer and/or satellite receiver’s CeNET cable is connected to the source unit. Otherwise, the source unit will not “recognize” that a CD changer or Sirius satellite receiver has been added.

I have a one year old Raymarine 218 vhf which has been transmitting properly however the receiving has been spotty. I can sometimes only get about 1 mile reception. Lately even the one mile reception has a...

The main cause for lack of reception or transmit distance is the PL259 connector on the antenna coax that plugs into the back of the VHF. Check to make sure this connector is a high quality, marine grade connector. If it screws on and the coax shield is not soldered to the connector I recommend replacing the connector and soldering it. If the problem still exists I would try a different antenna to see if this is the problem. It is possible that the radio itself has a problem, but check these other issues first. Raymarine has a 3 year warranty on their VHFs so you could send it back for a no charge repair if the antenna doesn't solve your problem.

Good luck!

Clairon CMD4 has been installed in boat for several seasons and has been working. Tried to operate for this season and I am constantly getting ''linking'' message on radio. Called Sirius to resend signal...

Linking is usualy a antenna problem but you can try disconecting power lines to satelite reciever not just head unit for 30 sec and reconect let it reboot and see if it picks up signal! It is important to make sure complete power from batt is disconected to do complete reset! You should be able to see ESN # on channell 0 or get 184 to make sure u are connecting with sattelite! Then it is sirius sat problem!

Lost antennae reception

either the antenna is broken, or your service was cancelled. Contact SIRIUS for your account info. Did you pay to have the new radio turned on? I believe they have a $75.00 "activation fee".

No antenna detected

More than likely, it is the antenna. Sad to say, but the Sirius antennas go bad very easily. Make sure there is no undue pressure on the antenna wire itself, as that can aide to premature failure. Bad antennas are the number one reason for the unit to read 'antenna not detected.' I have seen plenty of the antennas go bad and they were not misused one bit. If you contact Sirius, they're usually pretty good at understanding the misfortune of losing your paid service. Sometimes they'll ship you out a new antenna.
