press and hold AL key until multiple beeps are heard. this puts you into program mode.
TO ENTER NEW MASTER CODE press the following keys:
AL 1 AL (new code) AL (confirm new code) then press the star key
to EXIT program mode hold down any key for 3 seconds

Dennis, remove the battery pack and hold down any number key for 10 seconds to bleed of any capacitor charges. Reconnect the battery and within 3 seconds, press and hold the A key until a series of beeps is heard, then release the A key. This erases all programing and restores factory default settings. www.alarmlock.com is a great place to get this type information. At the top of the home page click on "support" then on that page scroll down to "technical library" at the bottom of the page, then look for your lock under "programming instructions". First you need to know if you have a standard 2700 or the new enhanced version, it makes a big difference. Press any 2 buttons then star, if you get no response it is a standard version, if it beeps several times it is the new version. If it is the standard version, disconnect the battery and press any button. Now you are at factory default. Reprogram the master code, remember the master code and the operating code must b e the same length. 12345 A 1 A new master code A new master code. The master code is the only code that needs to be entered twice during it's programming. To set a manager code press; master code A2A new manager code, to set a new user code; enter master code or manager code A11A new user code. The programming must be done during the lock's unlock window so write down the procedure you intend to use to make things go quicker, if you need more time you can change the unlock window, it is probably set at the factoy 5 seconds. Press master code A45A4, this will give you a 20 second window to program the lock, when you are finished change the lock back to 5 seconds, press; master code A45A1, keep the open window short to conserve batteries.

New version remove battery, press any number for 10 seconds,release, reconnect battery, press and hold the A button within 3 seconds, 6 beeps, release A button. the lock is at default and ready to program. To program new version 12345 A1A new combo A new combo this will set a new master code, if you are only using 1 code to open the lock this should suffice.
