First you must connect the antena cable on JVC dvd/vcr ant in and from ant out of jvc connect to TV ant in. Then you must find TV programs on JVC.After that you can record a program and watch another. Be careful you record the program which you find on your JVC.

Does the JVC DR-MV5S DVD recorder/VCR combo unit have an analog tuner or digital tuner, so that you can record one channel while watching a different channel on your TV?

You can read what JVC is telling about the recorder. It is not an digital tuner, but still you can record a DVD and watch another channel or vice versa.

Jvc ht-xvc20u VCR/DVD combo player says "incorrect disc" error message every disc i try.

Have you tried a cleaner yet? It could be something as basic as needing the lens/compartment cleaned. They sell these kits at most retailers for less than $20. It is also possible them lens itself got scratched or cracked, especially of you've moved the unit recently. 5_19_2014_1_13_30_pm.png

Which brand of DVD-R disc did you use? What error did you get? What is your video source? Most TVs don't give video output. The tuner on the WV20V6 is an NTSC (analog) tuner. Thus you need to use a set-top box (OTA digital-to-analog converter, cable or satellite box) with the recording "channel" set to video input 1 for most channels or analog cable input to the recorder.
Verbatim DVD-R 8x, Maxell DVD-R 8X/16X and JVC DVD-R 2X have been tested and proven to work by the manufacturer. A number of DVD+R and DVD+RW or DVD-RW have been tested as well.
I've found that you have to test each batch of DVDs. Different manufacturing plants can lead to bad discs from a previously good brand.
The manual for the WV20V6 is available from Funai Corp (who manufacture the recorder for SV2000). The direct link is http://www.funai-corp.com/support/om/WV20V6.pdf . See page 25 of the PDF for tested optical discs. No CD-Rs will work.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your situation for additional support.

I have a Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder VCR Combo. Do I need a separate tuner? If so what kind? Thanks

Hello
Ofcourse you need an external tuner to receive any RF signals. Your Magnavox is not equipped with internal tuner with it. OK.

My jvc dvd /vcr combo will not record. I have the cable from my wall to the input in and the inout out coaxial goes into my tv. however it does not record anything

From the explanation, it looks like you are trying to record TV channel, correct? Some of these DVD VCR combos may not have built-in tuner. Do you have the instruction book? If not, you can download from jvc.com website. If you find it difficult, tell me the model number.

Vcr/dvd combo recording problems

You can use a normal set top box, plugged into the AV inputs on the combo, you could even use a seperate VCR for this, as long as it's recieving the signal you want to record.
