Use a 'Y' splitter. Usually from balanced to unbalanced. Also try looking at your device's control panel and see if you can change the channel options from mono to stereo. Beta drivers are for testing purposes, so try the signed driver also.

Do you have it plugged into the wall also? With the computer off plug in your 410 to the firewire port and the power adapter for your wall socket. Turn on the 410 and boot up you computer. If everything tests ok, turn off your computer and unplug the 410 from the wall outlet only. Boot computer. Hopefully this helps. Good luck.

My M-audio FireWire 410 doesn't work

It sounds like you may be experiencing a configuration issue with your M-Audio FireWire 410 audio interface. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the connections: Make sure that the FireWire 410 is securely connected to your computer and that all cables are properly plugged in. If the connections are loose or faulty, it can cause problems with the audio output.
  2. Restart the device: Sometimes, restarting the audio interface can resolve issues with the audio output. To do this, disconnect the FireWire 410 from your computer, wait a few seconds, and then reconnect it.
  3. Update the drivers: It is possible that the drivers for your FireWire 410 may be out of date or incompatible with your operating system. To update the drivers, visit the M-Audio website and download the latest drivers for your device. Once the drivers are installed, restart your computer and try using the FireWire 410 again.
  4. Check the settings: Make sure that the FireWire 410 is selected as the default audio device in your operating system's audio settings. You can access these settings by going to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound. Under the Playback and Recording tabs, select the FireWire 410 and click the Set Default button.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, it is best to contact M-Audio support for further assistance. They should be able to provide you with specific guidance for troubleshooting the problem with your FireWire 410.

Helpline

The guide fro properly connecting your microphone is here
GarageBand 11 Connect microphone

The problem is with OSX and its usb bus and not your settings or your usb device.

The solution to your problem is to use a firewire soundcard. That way it will use the firewire bus and all should be fine.

Mic not working!

Go to logitech's website and look for the latest driver for your microphone:

http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support-downloads

Install it, plug in mic, load audacity/garageband, or any windows recording application, and ensure the mic input on the application is set to the plugged in logitech/labtec mic. Ensure the input volume is set to a level that responds when speaking into mic. Press record to see if it picks up the audio.

Samson G Track USB Mic

To get sound in both channels in Garageband for a podcast using the G-Track Microphone:    select a voice track to record into    make sure the Track Info window is open (blue i button in lower right region of screen)    at the bottom of the Track Info window you will find Input Source:    Change the default setting of Stereo to Mono 1 (USB Audio CODEC)
This assumes you have gone to Garageband preferences and changed the Audio/Midi settings for audio input to USB Audio CODEC which appears when you plug in the G-Track Mike

I have an io26 firewire audio interface linked to my macbook. When i record in cubase le4n i'm only getting sound out of the left headphone and its seriously quiet. I have set the audio/midi settings to...

your audio are not in interface with your macbook it means to say, the common wire are not in the same connection. that why you only hear sound on your left headphone. in short your firewire audio is not compatible with your macbook. but you can rewire it with same audio plug. or replace the audio plug with the compatible one. when you do this, make sure that the common wire of your firewire audio and your macbook are in the same connection.

Are you using the 410 for recording or as a playback consumer soundcard? Is it connected to external speakers and if so, what type?

Lots of noise when laptop power cord is plugged in

You must be running on pc, or it sounds like you may have a ground loop issue. If you are running a mac, then bus power over the firewire should be enough. If your running on a pc, try getting a pcmcia card with 6 pin firewire ports. If not then your pc laptop will have to power the 410 via ac adapter. That means both should be plugged in tot he wall. Ive gotten that interference before, and gett it on any audio, whether im producing or playing itunes. I find the trick is to reset the 410 via the output window in the top right. It's right above the level knob. Also, try just installing the latest driver, with the 410 disconnected, then launch it from a different file path than the icon.

I still use it for the macbook pro, and its not always top notch. I bought it 3 years ago for 500, and i see what 500 buys nowadays.......MOTU!!!!

Firewire410

You should install service pack 2, the go to the m-audio site and upgrade the drivers again. Also, since your computer most likely have a 4 pin firewire, make sure you have the power cqble for the 410 connected. Ofcourse, do not have the 410 connected when upgrade either sp2 or the drivers. make sure you power cycle both devices before reconnecting and attempting to record....
