Unless your model specifically says it's a speakerphone, you can't do that. The base mic and speaker are only there for recording your outgoing message and listening to your messages. If it is a speakerphone, there should be a button on the base to activate it.

You can find manuals and other information about your model at Vtech's site.

How do i turn off the silent mode on a uniden phone, ive held down the # sign and nothings happening

Silent Mode
You can silence the ringers on the base and all handsets for a specific period of time; the answering system answers any incoming calls without playing anything through the speaker.
With the phone in standby, press and hold # on any handset. The phone prompts you to select the number of hours (1 - 9 or Always On) that you want it to stay in silent mode.
To confirm, press # or just wait about 5 seconds. The phone turns on the answering system and displays Silent Mode On on each handset. After the selected number of hours, the phone automatically exits silent mode. To exit silent mode manually, press and hold # again.
If the phone is in silent mode and you turn off the answering system, the phone exits silent mode.
Multihandset Features To use the features in this section, you need at least 2 handsets.
Your base supports a total of 12 cordless handsets: the one that came with the base and up to 11 DCX160 accessory handsets. You must register accessory handsets to the base before using them. (Handsets that came packaged with the base are already registered.)Handsets that aren't registered display a Not Registered message. For registration instructions, see p. 18, or see the accessory handset manual. If a handset was ever registered to a base, you must reset it before it can register to a new base; see p. 18, or see the accessory handset manual.Conference Calling
When an outside call comes in, two handsets can join in a conference call with the outside caller.
To join a call that's already in progress, just press Talk/flash or SpeSpeSpeaker. To leave the conference call, hang up normally; the other handset remains connected to the call.

How can i do two way on panasonic 5.8ghz

These directions are for the KX-TG5451, KX-TG5452 and KX-TG5453.

If you want to use the intercom feature, you need to know the handset number for the unit you want to contact. The base is zero. The handset number is set when you register the handsets. So to communicate with the base, press Intercom on the handset followed 0. The base will ring until someone presses Call to answer it (or one minute whichever comes first). (Alternatively, you can use the up/down arrows to select H1, H2, H3 or Base. Then press the right arrow key.)

To communicate between two handsets, press Intercom and then 2 (from handset 1 or 3 to connect with handset 2). Again the handset will ring for one minute or until the person with handset 2 answers. (To answer, they can press the phone, speaker or intercom button.)

If someone at the base wants to use the intercom, they need to press Select until the appropriate handset number is displayed. Then press Call.

To transfer a call, press Intercom and then select the desired handset. When the intercom message is picked up, indicate that a call is being transferred and press Off at the handset or base that initially answered the call.

For a conference call, initiate the call then press Intercom and select the handset to join the conversation. Once that person picks up, then press Conf. (I believe that Conf is a softkey so check the display.) This is only possible with the handset. (Another handset can join the conference by pressing the phone or speaker button on that unit.)

The manual for the KXTG5453 is available here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/KXTG5451S.PDF .

If you have a different model of the Panasonic 5.8 GHz phone, please add a comment with the model number and I'll try to give the directions for that unit.

I hope this helps.

How do I turn on my speakerphone for my Uniden EXP4540?

Sorry, Uniden EXP4540 2.4 GHz does not have a speaker phone feature. The cordless phone features AutoTalk™ and AutoStandby™. AutoTalk™ allows you to answer a call by just removing the handset from the base so you don't have to waste time pushing buttons. AutoStandby™ allows you to hang up by simply returning the handset to the base. You can check it's manual with this link http://www.uniden.com/pdf/EXP4540om.pdf.
Thanks for using fixya!

My phone rings but it will not answer i can't hear the person on the other end

If the other person can hear you, then the problem is with the earpiece on the phone. The phone rings using another speaker on the base unit. Swap the mic/earpiece handset unit with another phone and use with existing base unit, to narrow down the fault.

Hand set out of range disply is on. How do I reset.

here are some tips from my manual for out of range problems
hope they help
• Only one handset can be used to make or answer a call anytime.
If another handset attempt to do so, the screen will display OTHER
HANDSET ON and then OR OUT OF RANGE. You might press PHONE
or SPEAKER again until no other handset is using the line. Use the call
transfer feature to transfer a call to another system handset
or use the speakerphone feature so multiple members of your
house can be on an active call at the same time.
• Move the cordless handset closer to the base. You might have moved
out of range.
• Ensure that the base is powered up.
• Place the cordless handset in base cradle for 1 minute to allow the
cordless handset and base to resynchronize channels.
• If the cordless handset is in its base and the charging light does not
come on, refer to the charge light is off in troubleshooting guide.
• Reset the base. Unplug the unit’s electrical power. Wait for 15 seconds
then plug it back in. Allow up to one minute for the cordless handset
and base to reset.
• Other electronic products can cause interference with your cordless
phone. Try installing your phone as far away from these types of elec
tronic devices as possible: wireless routers, radios, radio towers, page
towers, cell phones, intercoms, room monitors, televisions, personal
computers, kitchen appliances and cordless phones.

How do I switch from my handset to the base speaker?

On the bottom right side of the handset is a button that says speaker. It will not transfer to the base station but does allow for anyone in the same room to hear the phone call or message as it acts as a speaker phone.

No sound on my calls on j600

When you make call no body can hear you because there will be mic in your handset it might be in loose contact or the mic is damaged ...

and you cannot hear them because the ear piece speaker is also in loose contact or it is damaged ...

if you are good at opening the handset then just open it and just have a check is there any miscontact in both the mic & the ear piece speaker ...

i think the mic and ear piece speaker are not touching to the circuit board so as it is not in contact you are facing this problem ..
check for the miscontact and solve it ... if they are damaged then replace with the new ones..
while purchasing the new ear piece & mic buy which is compatible to your handset model ..
if you are not good in opening then just visit the technician ...
he will do it ...
The price of the ear piece speaker & the mic are very cheap ...
if you visit the technician then he may take the service charges extra ...

any doubts reply me
i am always here to assist you
thank you
bye ..

Answering machine replay is garbled

Your handset battery will have no effect on the answering machine audio, providing your regular audio is fine (its fine when you make a phone call right?), I will assume yes. I have seen this problem in these models, and your problem lies in your base station, and the only fix you can attempt is to go into base programming and delete as much as you can out of the memory, greetings, old messages, etc.. Power down, then power back up again. Call in and leave a message. See if it sounds better through the handset or the speaker on the base when you play it back. If its garbled both ways (reviewing through the handset or on the speaker base) , then your problem is in your base memory. If it is just garbled on your handset, then it may be a radio module problem with the base, either way it probably needs to go in for repair. I don't know if Panasonic still repairs that model, but if you google Panasonic cordless telephone repair, you will find someone. Good Luck, CG
