My Sony Trinitron CRT TV is not powering up. It comes on and goes off in a few seconds. The standby LED is blinking 4 times. I read somewhere that this could be an issue with Vertical deflection/power circuitry. Can you please confirm and also mention how much will it cost to get this repaired?

How many times do this standby LED blinks at one time switch on? These blinks are fault indications. From the number of these blinks, you can get an idea about the faulty section circuit inside. 1. Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly. The blinks are fault indication. If the standby light blinks 10 times and the set shuts down after that;
Check Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R8051 and IC8005, also on the "D" board

In standby mode (red led on/after the led stops from blinking), press "Display", "5", Volume (-)", "Power on" on the remote control in sequence, self diagnostic screen will be display, let me know the what is on the screen to diagnose where the fault came from.

2 blinks means - over current protection (OCP) , unit goes to the standby
mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of
any of the circuits.

4 times standby light blink shows that tv got problem in vertical deflection section and probably vertical output IC got defective, need to be replaced.
Replacement of parts in circuit board requires soldering work and expertise so call local tv repair shop guy if you are not familiar with soldering work.

That is an error code that tells the tech where the problem lies. It is probably somewhere in the power supply stage. Your best bet is to take it to a TV repair shoppe and let them deal with it. They have all the documentation in order to repair the unit, and they can tell you what the problem is before they work on it.

takes awhile to come on then when it does it blinks all the time..

sometimes it stays on for a few minutes but then goes back into a blink mode..

can you tell me what is wrong and where, online can i order the parts. I've never worked on tv's but i don't have the money to call some one.

Seven Blinks: High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into shutdown. Check power supply and horizontal circuits.
