the apc ups performs a self test when ever it is powered on.... it should complete the process in 10 to 20 second but if it does not, then there is something wrong with ups.. try to get it checked...
ups with 300 watts can only back up 1 computer, though it can handle 2 computers but not too long.
your ups battery life span are good only for 2 to 3 years. for battery replacement you can visit the nearest service center and ask for battery replacement. it will not cost you much.
Verify that the usb to ups cable is pluggled in properly. Also you may not have a good ground. Disconnect the ups and plug it in another outlet to test with nothing else plugged into it, to see if it still beeps. You can also try and upgrade the ups software from apc.com
It sounds like its possible your battery is discharged or close to the end of its life, and needs to be replaced, but without better details its impossible to know the exact cause.
1) Switch Off the UPS and unplug all Loads (like System, Monitor etc.) from UPS. 2) Switch Off the AC Power (Input Power to UPS). 3) Press the UPS Power Switch constantly unless you hear 2nd BEEP Tone. As soon as you are hearing 2nd BEEP Tone, Release the Power Switch. 4) This is COLD START of all APC UPS that will reset any internal problem. 5) If, however, the problem persists, contact APC.
