If the charger is working correctly, it should turn itself off automatically (may go into float chrarge depending on type of charger). There should be an LED or an amp meter on the charger to tell you when the charge is complete. When the batteries are charged, you should be able to leave the charger switched on and it should cause no harm UNLESS the charger is faulty, in which case it will continue charging and damage the batteries. You should be able to tell if this is happening as the batteries will become very warm. If the batteries are losing their charge after you have switched the charger off, it is most likely that your batteries need replacing. Failing that, you may have a short somewhere which unfortunately, could be difficult to find.

Lights will not turn off and after turning on scooter in a few minutes, hear a beeping

If the lights on your Golden 3-wheel scooter won't turn off and you hear a beeping sound after turning it on, it could indicate a potential issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the key switch: Ensure that the key is inserted fully into the key switch and turned to the correct position. Sometimes, if the key is not fully engaged or turned properly, it can cause electrical issues. Try removing the key, reinserting it, and turning it to the correct position.
  2. Examine the battery connections: Inspect the battery connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion. Loose or corroded connections can affect the scooter's electrical system. If you notice any loose or corroded connections, carefully tighten or clean them as needed.
  3. Verify the charger connection: If the scooter is connected to a charger, make sure it is properly plugged in and connected to the scooter. A loose or faulty charger connection can cause electrical malfunctions. Try unplugging and reconnecting the charger to ensure a secure connection.
  4. Check the scooter's manual: Refer to the owner's manual or user guide for your specific model of Golden 3-wheel scooter. It may provide troubleshooting steps or information about the beeping sound and lights issue you are experiencing. Look for any error codes or indications that can help diagnose the issue

My Scooter will not take a charge!I have put in new batteries.Any help woul

Make sure the circuit breaker hasn't tripped. There is a fuse in line on the 3 pin charge port on the scooter. You have to take all the screws out of the back of the tiller to get to the fuse. You can go on Golden's website and download the service manual. It is a wealth of information.

The motor is screeching and barely moves. Started periodically, now is constant. Drains fully charged battery within minutes.

When the motor is screeching and draining the battery, that indicates that the motor has most likely seized up and is not turning the axle properly, which in turn will drain the batteries quickly as the scooter struggles to move. I strongly recommend discontinuing use of the scooter for your safety until the motor can be replaced; contact the manufacturer for a service call to fully diagnose the problem and give you a quote. If your insurance purchased the scooter for you, they may partially pay for the repair.
Good luck!

How long does it take to fully charge Golden Companion II bATTERIES?

Hi. Charging batteries is dependent on how far you travelled, the size of the battery, and the type of charger you have.
The best rule is to charge the batteries overnight after each use.
If your charger has an LED to show when the batteries are nearly full.
This LED is a guide only, and most batteries still need a few more hours of charging after the LED turns green.
Charging batteries is not like filling up a jug of water. Its a chemical reaction in a battery, and it takes time to charge them fully.
Good luck. Neil.

Battery shows 24.8 volts no power

Yes, your batteries are trashed. You need to replace them. Or take them off the chair and put them on a car charger, slow charge. They need to be up over 24VDC. If they fall under 24VDC the charger won`t recognize them and won`t charge.
