Tape is not threading

Servo and tape path system error.
0 : Mode cannot be identified, or mode identification is
not necessary.
2 : Threading motor/FG/sensor
8 : Abnormal current detected.

If it’s not just a simple tape jam, then you have a problem with the loading mechanism. The best solution is to take the deck to a service center.

From what i've read an Error-20 on a Sony BSP deck is a tape transport problem. Someone with the same error code (on a BSP model) said the actual tape loading mechanism was bad and they had to replace the hardware inside the machine that loads and ejects the cassette.

Error 02-403 is "tape slack in ff/rew". Although you were able to get the tape out, the threading ring may not have returned to the unthread position. With the power disconnected and the top of the deck off, look at the mechanism; on the right side, there is a small gray motor with a black wheel in front of it. By turning this wheel, you will be able to make the threading ring turn; turn it so the ring goes clockwise. When the ring has gone as far as it can, it will be in its unthread position, and the deck will probably work normally.

Error code 91-258 is described as follows..

91- Microcomputer and its periphery device error
2- THREADING
5- S side reel FG
8- Detected abnormal current

Your camera got mechanical problem with Supply Reel and failed to load tape.

I just found this post on another site :
tsvservice- 29th Jun 2007 14:0109-221 is "failure to complete threading within the specified time". in plain talk, the mechanism in the deck that threads the tape around the heads is not working. this could be a bad motor, bad gear, or even a bad tape.

uvw-1400 error 02-803 is "tape tension error when threading". possible bad threading motor or threading mechanism.

these error codes point to possible problems with one or both reel motors.

It seems mechanical problem and you need to apart unit.
I would advice you to get Maintenance Manual of BVW-75 before to open unit and get help from mechanical exploded section.

It is high end broadcast model and needs care in maintenance.

If you removed the tape carriage assembly, gear timing is probably off, assuming it is gear driven. Being one tooth off will prevent things from working properly. Gears will often have a mark (like an arrow or dot) which must be lined up with each other, in a mode specified in manufacturer service literature. Another possibility is sensors. There are sensors (usually optical) which tell the logic when the tape is properly loaded. If one of these is broken, or otherwise non-functional, logic circuitry will go into error mode, and, in this case, eject tape & display an error code. Lastly, check your mode switch. This tells the logic what position the mechanicals are in (gears/levers/slides). Again, if this is awry, you will have an error condition.
