How add a cooling fan to a plasma tv? - Philips 42PF7320A 42 in. Plasma HDTV

  • Anonymous Oct 04, 2011

Panasonic said 104* F was their upper limit. Mine regularly showed 120* to 136* and the power pack burned out. They had no fix nor recommendations. Fan behind or on the floor blowing up were too noisy. CPU fans require a method to narrow the air intake and should blow the air up and out to get rid of heat buildup. No way to attach with screws but a plastic zip tie could work. Also no way to wire a fan to the on/off system without voiding the warranty.

You can not install anything that is not specified by manufacturer. All you can do - make sure your TV have enough "breathing" room on it's back , top and sides. All Plasma Panels produce a lot of heat - it's "normal" operation. If you still unhappy with it you can put regular household fan on the back of the TV. I doubt that it would make any difference though.

What a ridiculous blanket statement ("You can not install anything that is not specified by manufacturer"). If the plasma TV is out of warranty, cooling fans can and have indeed been installed in plasma TVs. Anyone with the skills to work on electronics should be able to do it as long as they are aware of the high voltage present in the TV. I installed several cooling fans on the inside of the perforated metal back panel of my 50" plasma TV, specifically over the buffer boards and the YSUS board.

Run it with the back open and see which parts get the hottest, add some heatsinks to them. alternatively wire in a computer fan with a small hole cut in the back panel. you could run it off a 9v battery.

My Panasonic is 7-8 yrs old now. I simply took some painters tape and a few scrape pieces of cardboard and made "cooling fins." Taped them strategically around the vents. Cheap, simple and effective.

HOT SCREEN

Hello
Check the cooling fans at the top working well or not. If found damaged, replace it. It is normal that a plasma TV will heat up to an extent. If it overheats, cooling fans should be suspected.

I have an LG Plasma tv we just had HD connected now the tv is getting hot, what is the problem and is because if the HD?

Hello
All plasma TVs will get hot while it works, and it is not a fault. It is not related to what input you give to it. If it overheats beyond normal, check whether the cooling fans at the top of the TV works or not. If cooling fans do not work, never switch ON the set, until the fault has been rectifed. OK

Verticle lines on plasma tv

hi,
As you mentioned the problem can be realted to the plasma display panel. If you can open the tv then try on thing. When you open the tv you can see there will be ribbon wires going to the panel in the top and bottom side of the tv . You have to remove these connections from its sockets. now you will see some commponnets in the ribbon cabe. You have to resolder the SMD resistor in the board. Dry soldering in these resistors will lead to this problem. Also you have to check is there is any cooling fan inside your tv. Normally all plasma tvs have cooling fans inside. If the cooling fan dosen't work it will lead to overheating of components and this problem can occur. If all thses didnt help then the pannel is faulty. Have added a video which will help you its a different plasma tv

Screen glitters when tv gets warm i have to put a fan faceing the screen

Only option is to install an internal fan to cool the plasma. This is caused by the extreme heat made by the plasma tvs. It is overheating.

Thank you and best of luck!

I have a HP PL4245N plasma HD TV. sometimes while watching it just shuts itself off screen goes black and will not turn back on unless I unplug it wait 20 seconds and plug back. Then it works fine. it...

Hello
I thinks you may be right. All plasma and LCD panel tVs will have cooling fans at the top side. Plasma screens will heat up much more, and if cooling fans stops work, of has damaged, the set will overheat, and awill automatically shut down; because there is a overheat sensor fitted inside it, will sense the heat, and if the set overheats, it will send a signal to the main system control fo the TV; which in turn shut down the whole system. look fans for proper working. If not replace them. OK.

After being on for a whilemy plasma tv picture scrambles. After it cools down the picture is restoredwhat could be the cause

Your plasma is over heating! This is not a good situation for the tv as the components are only rated to their highest temp of 105 degrees C. (IF there are quaility parts inside). Some plasmas are only rated to 85 degrees C. I would recommend installing an internal fan or keep a fan behind the plasma to help cool it during its' working hours!

My samsung 46" plasma tv

On your Plasma tv you have cooling fans on the back side you will need to check to make sure that they are running. Lay your tv on the bed take off back cover (it's not hard) and used some air-in-the- can to remove dust from the back! If you need a fan go to Partstore.com (1-866-925-PART)

Thanks,

Plasmas can sometimes run hot so there are usually a fan or two in the back of them that turn on and help cool em down.

Can a cooling fan be fiited to my 50inch philips plasma tv

yes to your ? i asume you have had the back off of this tv...there are 6-7 modules inside. the power supply is where you need to focus some attention. and yes plasma sets do overheat.try to find a way to attach 2 120mm fans to the heatsinks. then try to find a 12 volt source with a volt meter. attach the fans to that source and you are good to go. be carefull not to short or overload the power supply. or you will be spending 3-4 hundo for a new 1... good luck..

Add a fan blowing into the rear of the TV and see if that helps.
Your fan may have stopped working.
