I have noticed that lots of people have this problem, not sure if its like mine but this is what happens, on my r52wh73 i could be watching something for hours and hours. nothing happens, but if i watch video that changes like has a flash back or something, a change in picture, then the tv will go to black, then come back, for a second, then if the picture hasn't changed, then it will do it again, then finally shut off, then after about a minute, i can turn it back on. now lets say i paused the video or whatever at the part, when i turn the tv back on, if its still at its part where it made the tv shut off, it will do it again, but if i were to get past that part, and be a part where the tv didn't mind, then everything is fine, happens, when i play xbox, or ps3 as well, but only certain games.
if anyone knows what is happening please let me know thank you.
These sets are famous for loose connections, bad capacitors and bd ribbon cable plugs. To start, solder all connections at the flyback transformer. Check the power supply, located at the front of the PCB on the left, for bulged electrolytic capacitors. Also, while soldering the flyback, check the horizontal section for loose solder joints. Lastly, you may need to replace the ribbon plugs on the left board. The ribbons actually tie the left and right boards together. They will be two white flat ribbons next to each other. I hope this helps as I have had problems in all of these areas. Thanks for using fixya.
Yes, try doing a reset and restore it back to factory condition
You have a faulty Microprocessor in the TV. There is some level detecting circuitry that is not working correctly, probably in the "Jungle Chip" anything like this when they perform strange things is invariably a Chip type problem. The software is glitching on the level transitions and hanging up the computer inside. The watchdog sometimes catches and sometimes doesn't. Basically a TV is just a PC with TV card and a fancy screen. As such they suffer all the things a PC can experience. I think you will have to get a "Quote" for repair you see these vague intermittent problems are really hard to track down, even when you know roughly what is going on, due to the interaction of the software, signal, and computer.
I found you a manual below...

Sounds like a buffer problem on the control board, Yes I heard it and hte fix was to change that part out probably not worth the fix as it was expensive during that time when they where not offering free upgrades.
now do not shoot me on this you could be having other issues but this from what your telling me happends on a certain scene it sould like the problem is what i said.
I would yes get a reapirman out also i would try th xbox in a diffren resolutions.
thanks please do click the accept button for my efforts.
Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/edwy_1a56970cf1ea4620
That sounds like a problem with the optical block most likely the DMD module. Did you try another input like component or S-video?
When this happens does it come on by itself or you have to manually turn it on again?
Ok.. There are a couple of things that can cause this problem but we can narrow it down. What is the status of the LED at the front when it shuts off? What lights do you see flashing and how many times does it flash in between each pause?
We will see if it is possible to fix it through service menu. But first lets complete the diagnosis. Does it make clicking noise when the image keeps changing from black screen to picture and vice-versa?
Turning off no clicking and flashing black screen. Sounds like the bulb. How much time do you have on it?
You cannot test a lamp nor the DMD board. The DMD board is a mirroring device that reflects light onto the color wheel. However you can test the ballast with a multimeter of high DC voltage range. I don't think its the power board or video board.
Yes I have seen it. Also checking the specs I found that this is a CRT tv? If yes then its confirmed that its a problem with the CRT board or the CRT tube. The board is attached eight at the end of the tube near the anode cap whcih makes it a rather dangerous DIY repair. A CRT projection tv neither has a lamp nor a DMD module. Its 1.16AM here in India and my eyes are drooping. Shall we continue this in 6 hours?
It is CRT my friend.

Hi,
have a check on the Ribbon Connector
it could also be from ssb, You may need to have a service manual
if you wish to troubleshoot on component level.
there is one @
RCA ITC222 Service manual
only with a fee,
here are the results of your Error Code
these might look like yours,
the board on the right = ssb
additional info for you:
you may need to open the back of the TV to check it out, or have someone to help you.
and look at the underlined :
have a check on these, might be similar to yours:
RCA ITC222A Small Signal Board
glad you made it! , accepted the solution which is the same solution which i have given to you on my
first post.
anyway, thanks for choosing Fixya for assistance!
these are the ribbons
and these are the words that tell it is a CRT

Usually answered in minutes!
is that what may be causing it?
where do i get the service manual?
yes i have done that, everything except svideo
after it shuts itself down, i have to manually turn it on
thanks for helping i appreciate it ,
light is always green, it will blink once , then a second time, then shut off
also i was wondering is there something i could do in the service menu that might fix it?
never herd a clicking noise
i have used it alot, i dont think its the bulb, cause all the colors are fine, i can watch certain things over and over again no problems, like if i watch the movie the animal on netflix through xbox360 works fine, but if i watch certain episodes of mythbusters, on netflix, it will flash to black, twice, then shut off.
also lets say i was to play a game on it, and i spun around in a circle over and over again it would do it.
is there a diagnostic test i can run on it, to see if it spots anything?
im not sure if this will help, but ii have taken a photo just now , of the events screen in the service menu
http://i41.tinypic.com/8zjyna.jpg
Did u see that photo i took?
I'm sorry to keep u up, I'm not sure its a crt tv, cause i looked at the specs here
www.hdtvreview.com/pdf/rca-r52wh73-specs.pdf
and it said nothing about crt
also what happens if i rest all settings to default?
i guess u are right :(
i was wondering if i reset everything to factory could that help?
