Our oven is a year and a half old, and I noticed after I self cleaned it the top part was burnt. Also, The door always clicks and the light goes on and off anytime the door is even touched. To top it off, I had the oven preheating today, and it started smoking really bad, and then started on fire inside. I do not have a warrenty but I am very upset with this oven in only a year and a half!! Any advice on what the problem may be would be helpful...thanks!

what was the error code?you should never self clean your oven before any big holidays,for reasons like this, if it takes out a part the part most likely will have to be ordered and the last day they take orders at my parts store is monday before thanksgiving so if it's your clock and you have to order it you might not have it for thanksgiving so hopefully you just have a bad latch assy. and you can get it fixed before the holiday,from what i've seen i will never self clean my oven,i use easy off and scrub it,the oven gets up to 1000 degrees and it damages the electronics in the oven.the clicking you hear could be the latch assy. unplug the oven.open the door and see if the hook part that locks into the door isn't jammed,i just went out tuesday to change a latch assy and that part was jammed,the rod that goes from the motor and to the door latch was hitting the metal part of the latch that bolts to the frame and i couldn't move the hook part or catch at all and the motor was clicking trying to move it,i had to lift the top of the stove,bend the body of the catch assy. so the rod could move freely and that fixed it.but using the self clean short lives the oven and it can damage the latch or the clock assy.send the error or just goggle it and it will tell you what it is.

We see a symptom like this due to a failure in the control board. Although it usually also affects bake mode. Another cause could be a problem with the door lock as it must be engaged (by the controller) to initiate self-clean.

How long does it take for the door lock to go off once the cleaning light goes off?

This is a Door lock malfunction. you will need to replace the door lock mechanism. it is faulty.

Test the door lock mech for its operational value to be sure.if the door mech test is good, replace the control(ERC/Clock)

you acn CANCEL the cycle, but will lremained locked unitill it cools off!

I was wrong (I think).  the baking element probably was burnt out as the repairman said.  He replaced it and I thought selfclean still wasn't working.  In fact, I think I just had to give the self-clean function more time.  Also, I was judging by smell.  We have become used to a bad odor during self clean which was missing when it was broken and still missing after the repair.  Bottom line, the oven was clean after the baking element was replaced, sans smell.

you have to turn the breaker off then pull the oven out from the wall till you can get the top off the motor is at the front you will see how it goes
