Hi,
Unfortunately it sounds like the compressor has failed. If just the blower failed you would have the compressor running and the coils would ice over because no air is going across them.
Either way the reapir costs will likely be close to or more then the cost of a new unit.
I would buy a new unit.

Hi,
I am sorry to Hear Regarding the Problem. It seems that Compressor / Fan Motor has gone Bad. It Does not Collect Water as the Fan is not Running. The Compressor is ties to the Fan Motor and if the Fan is not Working, then it is either not getting the Power from the Compressor or Fan Motor has gone bad.
Let me know, if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
Thanks for your response!!
On most of the Models, there is a Float that sits in the Bucket. The Float Button can be depressed and Pop Back out. I do not think, Float Button is a problem as you are getting the Light.
Before Ordering Motor / Compressor , what i could advise to Call a tech on site as he would make sure which component to be ordered. If you are hand at Repair, Open the dehumidifier and check the Motor. If Faulty, Order and replace it.
Let me know, if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.

Hi, Most dehumidifiers have a "Frost Guard" mounted on the condenser coil.
If frost accumulates on the condenser coil the frost guard turns the
compressor off until the frost melts, then comes back on again. For the
dehumidifier to work properly, the surrounding (ambient), temperature
must be higher than 65 degrees. This temperature allows the moisture in
the air to condense on the coils and drip into the reservoir without
freezing up on the condenser coil. Also, if the humidity is too low,
(below 45%), the same condition will occur. So it will help to keep the
parameters in mind when you have this issue.
Thank you for your allowing me to advise you on this issue.
Take care
Hi, the fan motor is bad. So, with further research it
turns out that the true culprit is the small thermistor/thermal fuse
between the orange wire (ground) and motor winding wire. The thermistor
is taped underneath the silver aluminum and yellow tape on the fan
motor. I heard about this bad (open/no continuity) thermistor makes
almost >99% of the fan motor problem regardless of any brand name
because this cheap c-fram fan motor is NOT made in USA. I
opened the motor, there is a silver (aluminum wrap) around the windings
for the motor that needs to be cut. Careful not to cut the motor
windings. Inside there is a thermistor or type of temperature sensor
connected between the orange wire and a motor winding wire. On my motor
this was no longer working.
The part marked "JET 123 NM1 2A 130C" is a thermal fuse. The 130C
is the temperature rating. When the motor get hot (130C / 265F) the
fuse opens. The circuit is broken and the motor stops.
The motor
is still good. The fuse is blown. It must be replaced to get the motor
running again. You could bypass the fuse but then you invite a fire
hazard.
A replacement fuse is available from Digi-Key. It is a Cantherm SDJ1 DF128S (128C):

Remove the rear cover to locate the compressor, then see how hot the compressor is,if overly warm it can be one of 3 issues: 1)rtc overload relay on compressor is bad 2)the units motor capacitor is bad 3) the unit is low on r134a refrigerant, which seems quite common even in these sealed systems the way they're made,if the 2 lines coming into and out of the compressor are not quite different in temp but the compressor seems to be running,(but, which you said it wasn't) running, then first try steps 1 & 2 above
The dehumidifier has a non-removable tray under the coils (they look like radiators) that collects and drains the water away. If the tray or drain gets clogged with dirt or slime the water doesn't drain away well. Some water is picked up by the fan and is blown out the vent. Take the covers off the machine and give everything a good cleaning. If you get water on any electrical parts, let the machine dry thoroughly before plugging in.

I have a Goldstar dehumidifier. The answer from Guru did not help. The condensor is not hot at all,,,cold actually. And now it's not humming at all. The light is on on the front but nothing else is going on. I have it turned on max.
I have a Goldstar LX86HACG dehumidifier. I plug it in and nothing happens. The light comes on but the fan does not run. The condensor does not get hot. It makes no noise. The only thing that happens is that the light comes on and that's it.
Hi,
I checked the unit and there is no sign of frost. So I think that is not the issue. I will tear it apart and look for that fuse. When I find it, will I be able to look closely at it and see that it has broken,,,like looking at an automobile fuse?
Someone else suggested there is a fuse in there that might have gone bad. Do you believe there is a fuse or do you believe it needs a new motor?
