I am having trouble setting up my wireless network. I can connect to the internet when my D-link modem is directly connected through the Ethernet port, but whenever I try to set up an internet connection through the router, I cannot connect. It shows that I am connected in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, but whenever I try to dial in via my DSL provider, it won't connect. Please advise.

Hello,
have you tried to follow the manual chapter 3, page 3-1 ?
If you lost your manual you can find one here:
http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wgr614v6_ref_man_20Apr05.pdf

One of your computers can go online because its using a wired connection to the router, but the wireless clients cannot access the connection - is this right?

Then you only need to setup the wireless part in the router.

It not let me get internet service i unplug it to move from one side of the room to the other and now its not working

You may need to reboot your cable modem before plugging in the router's power cord.

Are you certain that you re-plugged the Ethernet cable from the cable modem into the correct port on your Netgear router?

If plugging your computer directly into the cable modem allows you to go online, then just re-boot the router once all of the ethernet cables are plugged in to the correct places and then power it back on, and you should be okay.

Cannot connect to internet using wgr614 router. connection is good without router. with router connected, internet lite blinks.

To use a router with a DSL modem or cable modem, you need to connect the modem to the router at the WAN port and then connect the PC to one of the router ports. If the cable you have been using between the modem and PC is lableled as a cross-over cable, it is the wrong type of cable for the router connection. Use a straight through cable to connect the modem to the router.

If you do not have a manual for the router, here is a link to the router manual online: http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wireless_router_setupmanual.pdf

The cross-over cable could be the problem (typically yellow cable).

PS3 and Netgear WGR614 V7 Router

Basically the PS3 wireless settings needs to be configures with the Netgear wireless router settings.
To test if the modem is connects to the Internet, connect a computer into the modem, if it works then the modem is configured correctly. If it doesn't work, then contact your ISP and get them to test your modem connection.

My internet exployer windows will not reconize my wireless router. I changed from Knology to Mediacom cable. Before I changed I was able to go wireless. I called Mediacom and I was told to contact Netgear....

Hey Sheila,

Follow the below steps to reconfigure the router:

CONNECTIONS:

1. Connect a Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port of the router (isolated port).
2. Connect the computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports. Please make sure that there is no direct connection between the modem and the computer (either using Ethernet cable or USB cable).
3. Power off the modem and the router after making the connections.
4. Power on the modem and wait for the lights, then power on the router.

RECONFIGURE:

1. Open the browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
2. Access the router, usually with http://192.168.1.1 or http://www.routerlogin.com.
3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
4. Click on 'Basic settings' from the left menu and select 'Use Computers MAC Address' from 'router MAC Address' section.
5. Click Apply.
6. Once it updates the settings then power off the modem and the router. Power on the modem and wait for the lights, then power on the router.
Hope this helps.
