KLH R7000 Component Video Problems

Yes. I know this reciever is low end but for $20.00 from a friend I couldn't resist. I am trying to connect my dvd and cable box to it with component video. TV works fine when connected directly to the dvd or cable box. When I try to run them through the KLH R7000 reciever I get no picture. Is there a setting on the reciever that I am missing. PLease help.

It has power but it clicks off

First thing to check is theat there is no shorts in your speaker cabling either damaged cabling or ends toching together at the amp or speaker connections.
If there is notheing tounching, try unplugginging ALL of the speaker wires then start it up again, if it doesn't click off then carefully check all of your speaker connections. try plugging them in one at a time while turning it on and seeing if it clicks off.

If it isn't a problem you might have a problem in the power supply or amplifier modules of your reciever - That problem would be one for the pros!
Hope this helps!
Good Luck!

I have a KLH 700watt home theater reciever that wont stay on!!

Sounds like it is overheating. Try one or all of the following:

Remove anything that may be stored on top of it. Unblock the vents.

Connect speakers with a higher sensitivity rating.

Move it to an area where it has more airflow around it, ie; not in a closet or cabinet.

Disable any bass-boost and equalization, or tone controls.

Set any crossover settings for any subwoofer you may have connected, to a higher frequency.

Decrease your listening volume.

Component video signal between KLH DVD8350 & Vizio 32" PlasmaHDTV

If the Visio TV has more than one input, don't forget to use its remote to make sure the correct input is selected. It probably wouldn't hurt to put a DVD into the player, confirm its running from the front panel counters) and let it keep running as you troubleshoot. At least then you'll know there is an active video source once you find it. Another thing you can try is to put in a music CD, if the player accepts these too (most do). Then when you get the TV set to the right input, at least you'll hear music, and can then go back to trying a DVD.

I know you're using component video, so remember that unlike HDMI devices, the TV is unable to switch to the correct source automatically. So it may just be that you've never had to switch the TV's input source before. Good luck! :-)

Klh r7000 no sound

Like I wrote, I had a similar problem with popping and then no audio for an extended period of time. I found the solution on another site, http://dexsoft.com/blog/?p=15

Apparently the solder joints are weak, and just as the blog described when I opened up the receiver I saw the same scorch marks from overheating. Just as the blog described, I added solder to each of the joints in the photo and have had no problem ever since.

I am no solder expert, this is my 2nd time, but all I did is build up each of the joints and I have been listening to music, playing movies in surround sound with no problems, no popping for the last 2 weeks.
