Hi,
Can you help me with a problem ... I had Pinnacle Studio Plus 9 on my PC (windows XP professional, wity SP3) with the extra features (unlock code) purchased.
My PC recently crashed (blue screen) but I recovered the data and re-loaded the Studio plus program from the disc.
I noticed that although the program was returned as it was before crashing (including the items released by purchasing the activation key) it wouldn't open my most recent projects that were created after I purchased the activation key. The earlier (completed) projects, done without the extra features being activated would open fine.
The rror message just reads ''Studio plus cannot open file'' with no reason given.
I the downloaded the trial version of Pinncle Studio 14 Ultimate edition to see if it could open the projects and it does but without the ability to edit the sound! It won't even allow you to mute the video soundtrack or the added music soundtrack line. It recognises where I have altered the sound levels on my recovered project (and faded in or out etc on the timeline view) but ignores the fades or variations on audio playback and mixes added music with the orginal video audio. It did this on my laptop, so it's not a PC glitch. And the same thing happends with Studio 12. Does the Studio 14 trial version lock access to the sound editing? I am afraid that if I buy the full version I may see the same problem.
I have looked around all the forums and threads but no one seems to have had the same perblem.
Any assistance would be greatly apprecaited as I spent hours on these projects!
Thanks,
Edward G
Updates and/or patches may need to be reinstalled for Pinnacle Studio Plus 9. Check here: Downloads

ok try 2 things,, I personally believe that the file typs your using isnt compressed and is the raw format which occupies a lot of memory and processor power which can be very time consuming..
1.) use an alternative file type like (divx (HD), or mpeg2 (DVD) or Xvid) personally i use Divx hight compression rate and almost no loss of quality)
2.) you can upgrade your machine or get one to meet this specs
at least 4 GB Ram
1 / 2 quad core processors (yes some boards carry multiple processors)
1 GB graphics Card (ATI Radeon) or G-Force..
there is another option and 1 I use as well
I built a multi processor system (parallel processing) commonly called a Render farm..
It involves having multiple computer called nodes connected to a server (development machine) all networked with special software. What it does is when it needs to render out an image its shared among all nodes GREATLY reducing render time. I do 3d development as a hobbie , on my development machine It took 57 hours for a 5 minute clip with my 15 nodes it took only 2 hours.. The more powerful the nodes the fater it works.
development machine
2 quad core processors
4 GB ram
1 GB ATI All In One wounder (graphics card)
nodes
1 quad core processor
4 GB Ram
1 GB network Adapter
Network
1 GB 16 port Switch
I use Back burner as the render client / server (software)

A general workaround would be to let your software create an ISO image instead of burning a disc. Then burn the ISO with a known-good burning software (many user here - me included - recommend ImgBurn).
