I had already cleaned the filter yesterday but I didn't check the hose from the pump to the drain. The hose from the pump to the back of the unit I took it off and cleaned and water runs through good. The hose from the back of unit to the drain is long and was a little dirty but when I put one end to the faucet and the other in the toilet water doesnt come out all the way. I have to blow in it to get the water out. I think I need to shorten it or buy a new one. Once I started the machine again it only took 3 minutes to get the error again. Both times I took the filter out there was still alot of water in that big black hose.

  • mike stanley Mar 08, 2010

I reject its still not working.

  • mike stanley Mar 08, 2010

When I hit pause after I get the FH error and start it back up just as soon as the water turns on it goes into error.

  • mike stanley Mar 08, 2010

I have a maytag front load washer model mfw9600sq1. I get fh error about 3 minutes after the washer starts. If you push pause then start again as soon as the water starts it goes into fh error. I replaced flow meter, checked screens on water valve, bought new hoses, cleaned pump out, took off hoses from pump to drain in wall and cleaned, cleaned the plastic piece on bottom of drum that the pressure switch is connected to and no luck. The last expert told me about the hoses from pump to drain on wall but I can't get a response back when I told him it didn't work. There is still water in the big black hose going into the filter after draining is that normal. I need help please.

  • mike stanley Mar 08, 2010

I've seen about not putting hose to far down in the drain so I've had it not very far down. So then it would be the pressure switch?

  • mike stanley Mar 08, 2010

I've also ran the test on the washer and it went through all the steps. If there was a problem would it have stopped?

  • mike stanley Mar 10, 2010

I replaced pressure switch and it still goes into fh error. Usually the timer starts at 40 on casual and goes into error at 36 but this time the timer stayed at 40 and I know it ran for a while.

  • mike stanley Mar 10, 2010

I replaced pressure switch but still get the fh error. On casual it would go into error at 36 but after replacing the switch I noticed it started at 40 and ran alittle bit and was still on 40 when went into error. Also before I changed the switch out we left the clothes in the washer over night after it went into fh error then the next day started it and it ran the whole cycle.

  • mike stanley Mar 13, 2010

I've ran test on washer and went through all cycles. If there was an error would it have stopped? I've replaced pressure switch and flow meter and inlet hoses. Took off drain hoses from pump to wall drain and cleaned them and found nothing. Cleaned out filter at pump and it had alot of stuff in it. I cleaned the plastic piece at bottom of tub that hooks to pressure switch hose. I even took drain hose off back of unit and drained the water out of washer after it went into error into a 5 gallon bucket. The bucket was less than half full. The timer starts at 40 and always goes into error at 36. Help please.

  • mike stanley Mar 13, 2010

fh error I have done everything the experts have asked. I replaced the hot and cold hoses, flow meter and pressure switch. the cycle starts at 40 minutes and at 36 minutes it goes into error. Well I just did a couple of washes with no clothes and at 36 minutes the water stops and the barrell begins to turn. I never get an error with no clothes in washer. When I put clothes in it goes into error at 36. Seems like the clothes soak up all the water and it doesn't think it has enough water.

  • mike stanley Mar 13, 2010

Ended up being the water valve. Its fixed.

  • mike stanley Mar 13, 2010

It was the water valve. After seeing all the problems people are having I never seen anyone talk about water valve. I think it was from the hard water.

I had the FH problem too 5 years ago, unexpectedly I had 2 faulty parts at the same time. The water level switch hose had a hole in it caused by vibration. And I had to replace the reed switch on the water flow sensor. The reed switch was only 2$ at my local electronic shop and it worked!

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa.
If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine, the valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed.
OR
If the control has turned the water valves on, and after 8 minutes, the flow sensor has detected
10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off, and the error code will flash. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

This error occurs usually if there is no water in the unit:
- Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
- Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves.
- Verify inlet valve operation.

• If there is water in the unit:
- Verify drain pump operation.
- Verify that the pressure switch hose is in good condition and properly connected to tub and pressure switch.
1. Verify there is not a siphon problem.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Verify wire harness connections to inlet valves, pressure switch, drain pump, flow meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Check all hoses for possible leaks.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Verify pressure switch operation.
7. Verify flow meter operation by blowing air through the part and measuring the resistance.
8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any cycle

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

This may seem like a silly question. But what water temp do you wash in? do you well water that's unfiltered? Here is a list to check from our manual.

If there is no water in the unit:
• Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
• Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves
• Verify inlet valve operation
• If there is water in the unit:
• Verify Drain pump operation
• Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and
Pressure switch
• Verify there is not a siphon problem
• Verify wire harness connections to; Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump,
Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
• Check all hoses for possible leaks
• Verify pressure switch operation
• Verify flow meter operation• Verify CCU operation
Hope this helps some, hold on to you "old" parts for a while, they may not be bad.

Below is the Maytag help link, well worth a go. http://maytag.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2887

Also have a look here below, this has some VERY useful info. http://www.technicianbrian.com/2009/11/whirlpool-washer-fh-error.html
Now IF you have done all of that, AND you are sure of your workmanship & parts re-installed, then the Problem may be in the main Control Board, or "Brain" Sometimes it has been found that in actual fact it is the "water valve is malfunctioning" This need replacement

This is actually a fill error, it appears when the tub should be filling and is not being sensed. Make sure that both hot and cold water is turned on. Since you do see water coming into the tub this is an issue related to your pressure switch. It sounds odd but this can also be caused by a siphoning drain so check to make sure your washers drain hose has only a little over a foot into the drain otherwise this may cause it to siphon and throw up the same error. If the water is on and the drain hose checks fine then I would guess your gonna have to replace the pressure switch but right now my money is on the drain hose being shoved to far down in the drain pipe. Hope this helps.

No there should not be water in the black hose after draining. Your pump might be bad or the timer

If the washer went through all the steps that sounds like the pressure switch is bad on it. You need to replace it

Hi,

I understand that you have checked for drain clogging but this error means some issues with the drainage . The clogging is not the one in the wall where the drain hose goes, but the internal drain, you have to use a seven mm quarter inch drive socket and a 2 inch or longer extension. Here is what you need to do . At the bottom there are three screws at the which must be removed. Once you have the bottom cover removed there is a "cylindrical box" thing with a front cover, the front covers is simply screwed into the cylindrical box housing, unscrew it. This is the internal filter, you'll find small particles jammed here. Now follow the drain line out and feel it from the outside by pinching it to see if it is clear and flush it with a wire hanger. Reassemble the washing machine now and the error code should go away. Please let me know if this does not help else please accept it.

Thank You for contacting Fixya.com

Timer display blinks fh on maytag epic front loader

First try turning off the machine for 30 minutes. Then check your inlet valve. Shut off valve, switch off machine & see if the water comes full flow. Check the filters on the machine inlet entry, they could be blocked, clean out.

The FH indicates a fill failure and this is usually caused by a bad water valve, flow meter or pressure switch.

One key to determining the cause of the FH error is how fast the error comes up in a cycle. If the error appears within 1 or 2 minutes then the most likely cause will be the water valve or flow meter.

If the error doesn't appear for several minutes then the pressure switch can be the source of the problem.

Both water valves must be turned on and working. Even if a cold wash is selected at some point during the fill the hot water valve will be energized and if there is no water then the FH error will show up. Sometimes a consumer will turn the hot water valve off to save energy but you can't turn one valve off on this washer.

Inlet valves can be purchased thru the net and fitted by you easily.

FH IS FLASHING ON THE WASHER AND IT HAD STOPPED WORKING ONLY 5 MNUTES INTO ITS CYCLE

Hello,

The FH error code means the computer on the control board didnt detect any water entering the washer..sometimes it doesnt detect the water entering because the filter screens on the water inlet valve are clogged with sediment and water is having a hard time entering the washer.

The filter screens can be checked by turning off water at the faucets and disconnecting the fill hoses from the back of the machine and pop the scrrens out of where the hoses connect at the washer and check for blockage in them. If they are found to be clean check the water coming out of the hoses before connecting them back to the washer...if the screens are clean and water pressure is good out of the hoses the part of the washer called the FLOW METER would need to be replaced

When washer starts to wash it beeps and flashes the letters FH.

Hi

Error FH means that a water inlet problem has occurred. If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display. If the machine is not filling then check whether both valves at water source are turned ON and inlet hose are not plugged. If the machine is filling fine then chec the pressure switch hose and the drain hose for siphoning (also make sure water is not flowing back to the machine from drain hose). Check wire harness connections to: Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump, Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU). Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.
