My target wet saw, on top of the motor has a part in it that overheats due to getting wet, there are two wires soldered. one labeled E, going to the motor,it seems to be an overload device possibly? I was wondering how to replace it and where I would find it and the proper name, thanks Bill

We are currently experiencing a problem with the target TA10100 wet saw. It will start up and immediately shutdown. The local authorized tool repair said that the part encased on the top of the Baldor motor is called a capacitor. we have yet to find out if this is the cause of the problem. Hope the information helps you because so far it hasn't helped us.

The Target wet saw TA10100 is shutting down immediately after starting up. Anyone know the part that is causing this. We have replaced the off/on switch and repaired a wire to the switch with new conn

check where your power cord goes inside the saw to the motor. All that wrapping the cord around to pack it up sometimes works it loose. Other wise id take it to a elec motor shop for a new motor, Last one i got i think it was $40 installed. Targets arent' cheap so its worth just putting a new elec motor in it.

The sensor is a resistive load sensor. The resistance changes as the motor gets hot. Solder the wires back onto the board and whilst keeping the model off of the ground, put it into drive mode. If it doesn't go, then wet your finger and bridge the two solder points on the sensor. Don't worry, you will not get any electric shock as the voltage and current are too low.

If it still doesn't drive, then wiggle the motor wiring at the motor. If still nothing, then press lightly on that sensor pcb. There may be a broken track on it. If it is broken, then you cannot solder it. You then need to go to Maplins (if in the UK) and buy a small bottle of pure silver paint. Where the solder points meet the circuit resistive track (it'll be black carbon looking), paint one blob of silver conductive paint onto each of the track beginnings. Let those dry (five minutes) and then try it. It should work. The silver paint will only work if the wet finger trick on the black carbon track works. If no carbon track, then it may be a thermal resistor (thermistor). Replace it. Maplin sells them too, so just buy a few different types (very cheap) and temporarily solder one in place until it works.

Tile Saws question

Since tiles are so thick, brittle, and made of ceramic, a special saw must be used. An ordinary circular saw for wood or metal would either break the tile or get so hot that it would seize up and stop cutting. However, ceramic tile is not cut well with sharp blades. The wet tile saw was invented to address all these unique properties of ceramic. It doesn't overheat, uses a relatively dull blade with no serrations, and can be transported to a job site and set up on top of an existing table or sawhorses.
