You have to download the driver from the following options and run it. The cd has been shipped for the xp version only. Should not be a problem further on. Download them to your desktop and run it.

You will need to know if you need 32 or 64 bit drivers...

1. Click start.
2. In the left column Right-click on 'Computer', now click 'Properties'
3. You'll see what you need under the System Type entry. (See image below.)
4. Once downloaded, double-click the file and follow the directions.

You can download the drivers from HP: Offiecjet 7410 Windows 7 x32
Officejet 7410 Windows 7 x64

Just click directly underneath where it says "Driver" to start the download.

Desktop computer windows xp...sons laptop windows 7 ..wireless router....same internete signal...can his laptop find my printer..or do i need to run same cd on my sons laptop..to get it to install on...

Hi,

Yes it is possible, you have to install the pritner software on your Sons laptop.

1) For sharing, if you have a network printer connected to your router, then select the network option while installing the printer (If you would have given us the printer model and make we could have given step by step instructions).

2) If the printer is connected to your XP computer and you want to share it, share the printer from XP as mentioned in the steps below.

>> Open Printers and Faxes. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes.
>> Right-click the printer you want to share, and then click Sharing.
>> On the Sharing tab, click Share this printer and then type a share name for the shared printer (e.g. MyPrinter), click on Apply and Ok. (as shown below)

shreysri_8.gif

Now goto the Windows 7 laptop and follow the steps as mentioned below,

>> Click Start >> Click on Devices and Printers >> Click on Add Printer (as shown below)

shreysri_9.jpg
>> A new window will come up, click on Add a network printer (as shown below)

shreysri_11.jpg
>> The laptop will search the network for the printer and display it on the list, click on the printer and click on next. The laptop will install the software required, do ensure the printer installation disc is in the laptop in case if Windows 7 wont have the driver it will take it from the disc.

Shrey

I have window 7 64bit and the keyspan software installed fine but the server utility does not recognize the print server. I allowed port 3842 tcp and udp through the windows firewall but still no luck.

for key span server to work with windows 7 install windows xp mode to windows 7 ( this can be downloaded from microsoft website if you have windows 7 pro and above. if you have windows 7 home then install windows virtual pc, start it up and insert a windows xp pro install disk. for info on this google 'workaround to install windows xp mode in windows 7 home premium and home basic') Once you have windows xp mode running, install the keyspan server utility int he virtual machine and setup as usuall. then share the printer. go to windows 7 devices and printers and add a printer, chose a network printer, select the new virtual machine and select the shared printer. In order for the printer to work just start up the keyspan program from windows 7 and print....your welcome.

I loaded Windows 7 on my hp laptop and have lost the wireless connection between the laptop and wireless Dell printer.

If this is a new installation of Windows 7 and you have never used the printer on this installation, you will need to install the printer from scratch. If you have the installation disc that came with the printer, pop that into your computer and follow the installation steps. If you do not have that disc, you can look up your specific printer model and download the driver to your computer. Then use the Add Printer Wizard in Windows 7 to search for printers, and if yours is powered on (and both the computer and the printer are connected to your network) it should see it, and then tell it where you saved the driver.

I want to share an HP 7760 on an XP with Win 7

To get ahead of myself and answer your question first, your Win 7 machine may automatically load a driver for your shared printer.

Please have a look at the procedure below: (these instructions assume that your XP machine is sharing the HP printer and that your Win 7 laptop can "see" your network and the shared printer connected to your XP desktop computer)

On the Win7 machine, follow these steps:

1) In "Control Panel" click "Add local printer"
2) Create New Port > Local port
3) Port Name is "\\xpcomputername\printername" - without the quotes

(insert the XP's real network name and your printer's real name in the above location)

4) Click <OK>

5) Windows 7 should automatically load a driver allowing you to print on the HP connected to the XP from the Win7 laptop.

I hope this helps!

Don't know how to connect printer to Win7 laptop

Hi there

You can not install any CD disk if you have Windows 7 then you are going to have to find the right software driver for this, there is not a lot of driver been made for the windows 7 printers yet.
They are still seling the printers with the XP drivers CD whitch is not any good for the new win 7 or Vista.

In my case I had the SX515W configured via USB with other computer with Win XP, and later working by WiFi.
With may new laptop with Win 7, I have the error with the NetSetup installation CD.
First I checked that it was possible to print via USB with the laptop, and after I added by wifi using the "add new printer wizard" as explain Quagmire69 in the link attached.

How do I get my Windows 7 laptop to add printer from my Windows xp PC. Just purchased a Dell laptop with Windows 7. My PC has Lexmark 7300 printer, I cannot get the laptop with 7 to add printer with my pc...

Lexmark do not provide a driver for this printer for windows 7.
The latest version is for XP only.

http://support.lexmark.com/index?locale=EN&page=product&userlocale=EN_US&productCode=LEXMARK_X7350#1
You could use the XP as a printer server, i.e. it would interface to the printer, but accept documents from a Windows 7 laptop.
This web page shows how to set up the XP printer as a network printer on the network as windows 7 resource.

I made the mistake of upgrading to Windows 7 from XP. I hated Windows 7 so I returned to XP. Now my Epson stylus CX3810 will not load into my laptop. What do I do?

Remove the printer. The machine probably still has the WIN 7 driver. Reboot should load the driver or use the software that came with the printer. Updated drivers are on the EPSON website.
