I was just using my 400XPR and it stopped running cold. Could I have burned out the motor? There's no smell that would indicate that.

My brother serger 1034D will not start. Light comes on but motor will not start when you press the foot control.When it stopped there was a smell that something had burnt.

Are you loosing radiator fluid. sometimes the heater core will rupture and you will smell burn odor. also check for strange rubbing sounds or screeching coming from the blower fan motor. or engine exhaust manifolds are hot when car is on, make sure nothing is leaning on them which will cause a burn odor. Any odor coming from outside will find it's way inside through the fresh air vents.

Its cold here and heater motor just stopped

Could be bad motor,switch, bad fuse/relay or resistor setup, wiring or connector/connections. Does it not run in any speeds ? Did it make noise or a burning smell before going out ?

A new treadmill is in order! It sounds like the motor is either old, or it has a factory default. Definitely do not use the treadmill if it produces burning smells this is in fact the wires in the motor heating up and melting this could cause a fire.

Check for vent blockages! Overheating may be a serious issue and fire hazzard. A slow moving drum could mean a bad traction belt, jammed mechanical part or the motor is not spinning at a proper RPM which may indicate motor damage also. The electrical burning is a serious issue also and a fire hazzard. Dryers need periodical cleaning to remove excess lint, dust and debris. Lack of cleaning causes the dryer to work harder and run hotter. Excessive heat shortens the life of many parts such as belts, bearings, electronics, wiring, etc...

When using my panasonic 12v ey6409 drill there are sparks and smoke coming out at the rear, should I be concerned.

the tool with the brake will throw some sparks when it creates the short to stop rotation, but the SMOKE is an indication of a burnt motor and yes you should be concerned. Do you smell a burning odor when running if so the motor will soon fail.

Motor starts then slows and then stops. No indicator fault

few possibilities,capacitor could be burnt out,microfarads are printed on side of can,it will smell bad if it has failed,but can also fail without any ,odour,hope this helps

Could be the brushes burned out. Don't panic, they are user replaceable. If you have the user guide it should explain exactly how to do it. If you don't have the guide you'll first need to get a set of replacment brushes from a larger hardware store. Make sure to get brushes for your model. On the side of the tool are black slotted caps that can be unscrewed BE CAREFUL THE SPRINGS UNDER THE SCREW CAP CAN GO FLYING. With the cap removed the old brush will fall out and can be replaced with the new one. 2 brushes, one on each side are needed. The 400XPR is a newer model so if this doen't repair it, there may be a defect in the tool.
