Apple macintosh: my G4 dual processor Mac runs OSX and OS 9. When running OSx I tried to switch to OS9 by the usual method; i went to mac preferences and selected OS9 and asked it to restart. It closed and seemed about to restart, but instead I get a flashing button in the middle of the screen with a picture of the earth on it. I tried closing and restarting but the sme thing happens again. Help!

Hi Bobby You will need to get an OS X installation DVD. Try eBay.Don't go for anything lower than 10.4 (Tiger)10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) should run fine on this machine.Don't bother with 10.7 or 10.8
the mac os can be installed on the dual core processors or the prossers if you use the i3 or i5 processors it wont support for you . And also ther are a set of procedures to be followed to install mac in a normal desktop
Unfortunately the software will not work with OSX. OS9 (also refered to as classic os) had some compatibility with macs up to 2005 when Apple changed the processors in macs to Intel. Since then all OS9 software no longer works.
There is a small chance you may be able to browse/search the CD's folders for images as the photo objects may be in jpg/gif/png format. Try opening finder, select the CD. and search with the text box in the upper right corner in Finder.
Canon only has this scanner driver in OS9 and it will run in classic mode if you are using OSX. This $40 software will work with your scanner in OSX, but for $40 you can purchase an OSX native scanner too. http://www.hamrick.com/index.html
Have look at the box again, does it have the smiley picasso face for Mac or does it have the X? (or does it just say Mac?)
I had a look on Amazon and I could only find Mac mentioned, and seeing that the game was published in 2001 and all the windows versions listed are pretty old, I would suspect that this is an OS9 game and will therefore not run in OSX.
However seeing that you are running a G4 machine you should be able to run the game in OS9 without a problem.
Please follow the instructions which fits the Mac OS that is being run:
OSX
1.
Click on the Apple menu and select the System Preferences option.
2.
In the "System Preferences" window, Select Network.
3.
When the "Network" Window opens, select Built-in Ethernet and/or Airport from the "Show" Menu.
4.
Once you do this, look near the bottom and you will see the Ethernet Address or Aiport ID. This is the MAC Address, make note of it.
OS9 and below
1.
Click on the Apple menu option.
2.
Go to the Utilities folder
3.
Open the program called Apple System Profiler
4.
Select the System Profile tab
5.
Under Network Overview > Appletalk>
6.
Once there you will find the Hardware address, this is the MAC Address, make note of it.
