Nothing on screen when I turn Thinkpad on

When I turn on my lenovo r60 thinkpad nothing is coming on the screen. All the lights are lighting up except for the one that looks like a cylinder/trashcan that is next to the power indicators. What could be causing this?

Remove the battery and adapter. press power button for 30 sec. then connect the adapter. press power button. if this didnt work. you need to ask for an help of a local tech to check for the video card and cable.

MY BLUE BUTTONS DON'T WORK

Maybe a crumb under the Fn key. Give it a stab and see. Otherwise go to start-control panel-monitor-adjust brightness. Hope this helps.

The problem is that the "inverter" inside the LCD screen has failed.

It's about a $20 part to replace, but I recommend that you take the computer to a qualified technician for proper disassembly/repair/reassembly/testing of the LCD.
