Verizon Communications HTC XV6800 Cell Phone - Blue Logo

The camera flash LED came on a couple of days ago on my Verizon xv6800 and it will not turn off unless I turn off the display. Not sure what I did to make it come on as I didn't notice until later in the day (a friend said he noticed it was on earlier in the day but didn't mention it until later...) I rarely use the camera and haven't installed any new software recently, though I just upgraded it to Windows Mobile 6.1 about a month ago. It's not just annoying but it also drains my battery.

Thanks for your response. The problem seems to have arisen about three weeks after the upgrade to 6.1. The manufacturer has been contacted, awaiting response. In the meantime, has anyone else ever heard of this problem? I'm coming up empty on Google...

I tried a hard reset already. It comes back up in 6.1, re-updating is not an option.

Hello.

Unfortunately, have not heard of this problem with this model.

Have you tried removing and reinserting the battery ?

Or, is it possible to downgrade to an earlier version ? Probably better to wait for the response from the manufacturer.

Hope this helps.

If you tried upgrading the software to Windows Mobile 6.1, there could be a possibility that the software is not compatible with the phone, or it could be corrupted.

First, verify the supported program of the phone. Next, check your the current program running on the phone.

Contact the manufacturer to ask them, what version of program that would work best with your phone. The only thing that you may try is to upgrade the firmware of the phone.

If you're going to think, draining the battery fast has something to do with the physical connection only, but the truth is, software or firmware is also responsible for that. Once you upgraded your software, there are some components that will work fast, that might cause the battery to drain out.

Contacting the manufacturer for second opinion is the best thing to do.

Good luck!

Sigma EF-530 DG ST - not working, on test or camera all 6 LED lights displaying. Any thoughts?

I don’t usually play with flash that isn’t built in- I prefer natural light, but...if this were me I would: A) take very fine sandpaper and very lightly go one time over all contacts for the flash and camera. B) I would also see if my button batteries in my camera needed changing. As I remember they have something to do with recognizing lenses and flash attachments. C) I would also make sure the batteries in the flash, although changed, were making proper contact with the battery terminals and might also lightly sand those as well since the flash is little used.

I want to replace the front face plate on the verizon XV6800 PPC

Here is a video tutorial for the Sprint Mogul, which is much like the xv6800.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lHXgVBd3j8&feature=related

Seems pretty complicated, but once you dive in its not so hard. Some people on ebay sell the faceplates and even include the tools to change it. Beware though that the Sprint and Alltel versions will not fit your xv6800. I am still trying to get one to work on my xv6800 with no success. I advise sticking to verizon's blue housing and leaving out the headaches I have had. Good Luck!

Camera will not power up changed battery just went dead Nikon D70

Fixing a Dead Nikon D70 - Green Blinking Light My first-generation Nikon D70, which I bought the day it was released to the market a few years back, died on me a few months ago. Without a card in it, it won't start, and when you insert a CF card in the slot, the green data-access indicator flashes on and off. If I hold down the Menu button, the menu flashes on and off along with the green LED.
d70_87x1.jpgAs it turns out, this is a known problem with the original Nikon D70 cameras, and Nikon USA has a service bulletin out on the camera body. They'll repair it free of charge.
So, if you have the same problem, visit this service bulletin page, http://nikonusa.com/Service-And-Support/Service-Advisories/D70-Service-Advisory.page click on the D70, and you can access a PDF file that you'll need to print, fill out and send to Nikon along with your camera body. Be sure to take your camera strap off and remove the battery, and don't send any lenses or other accessories.
Mine's on it's way to Nikon now - they say the turnaround is five days (plus shipping time).
