New Problem...I have a Singer CG-550. When I try and sew anything, the needle hits something inside where the bobbin is. The little black casing holing the bobbin keeps moving all over the place, I slip back the bobbin silver metal plate an turn the wheel, I can see that the black casing keeps moving aroun, an that is what the neele is hitting...any suggestions short of taking it to a repair place...Thanks

try taking the bobbin out and putting it back in the bobbin
case if it's a top loading bobbin
if it's a side or front loading bobbin make sure the bobbin case is
inserted correctly
if the bobbin and bobbin case are inserted correctly then
it sounds like the sewing machine could have a timing
problem and needs to be checked at a sewing machine shop

There are different feet for fancy stitches (I recently discovered)! Have you changed the foot?

First, try a brand new needle. If it was damaged by the previous activity, then it could be causing both problems.

Possible bent or wrong needle. If ok, check the zig-zag mechanism to see if it has come uncoupled from the needle mechanism. Good luck!

try and find the screw dude... either that or try taping it down i know it's not an ideal solution but it's a quick fix until you can replace the screw

Take it apart again and compare the original screw with the one you substituted. If they are not the same size, you will need to get one that matches the original.

Re-place the needle plate and when firmly in place, put the screws back in.

If the plate is moving up and down eithetr the teth are set far too high pushing the plate up or the teeth are set too far forward, I would go for the first, if the teeth are coming up well above the slot they are too high, they should be set so that when you look alongside the plate you can just see the top of the teeth, you can adjust the teeth by adjusting the screws underneath the machine where the teeth are.

If you put the bobbin in the case with the thread coming off in a clockwise direction, the thread should just fall into a slot and gently tug on the thread and it will slide through the tensions. Lay it across the bobbin case and then pick up the thread with the needle.
