I recommend you do not take off the glass. I have done it and was never able to get rid of the dust, which really shows up on every scan. The fogging has something to do with an optical coating on the underside of the glass. If I knew then what I know now, I would let it be. If the fogging doesn't show up in scans, leave it. If it really does show up, the glass itself is often held down by simple double stick tape. You try to keep the tape intact so you can put it back down. It may be strong enough that the plastic frame on top of it could snap. Do it in as clean (not dusty) environment as possible so dust does not drift down inside the scanner. Never touch the lamp or move the scan mechanism. Again, don't do it unless it's showing up on scan results. Sadly, nobody "fixes" scanners, they are disposable, like coffee pots, even if they cost 300.00.
It's very unlikely to get hair inside the lense. You probably see the hair on the reflex mirror of your camera. Remove the lense, Check inside the camera body for any dirt, dust, hair etc. Take a blower-brush (you can get one from the nearest camera dealer) and gently blow-brush away any particles from the mirror and the cavity. DO NOT use any force and don't touch the curtain shutter as it can easily be damaged. Don't touch the insides of the camera with your fingers, since the grease from the fingertips attract dust. Replace the lense. The hair should be gone now.
Hi, Which Operating system you are using.Priewe CanoScan ScanGear 12.0 – manages workflows in either ‘Simple’ or
‘Advanced’ modes – in the latter floating palettes allow fine
adjustment of Histogram, Brightness & Contrast, Tone Curve and
Gamma. New features include: Gutter Shadow Correction for eliminating
the spine shadow when scanning books; Saturation/Colour Balance; an
Enlarge Preview Area function for even more precise control of grey
balance and highlight shadow correction; and improved Dust and Scratch
Removal.
Normaly Red Green or Blue lines appear because of Dust in the CCD or due to electronics Failure. If this problem had happened after some SW changes then Try connecting the Scanner to a different Machine.
Most likely it is a spec of dust on the scanning sensor. I recommend cleaning with a soft cloth and isopropyl alcohol. More info here - http://www.willshak.com/scanner/
Try running a calibration. This is done thorugh ScanGear in Advanced mode. Once in Advanced Mode, in the Image Settings section there should be an option for Calibration (you may have to scroll down in this section to see it). After running the calibration, try performing a preview scan with nothing on the scanner glass. If the red line shows up on the preview now, then most likely the scanner needs to be serviced.
Sorry to ask u ,how old it is,this kind of problem is found due to following reasons
1)driver software:uninstall n reinstall driver
2)scanner is dusty:clean the scanner from inside
3)inner scanner cable(black cable) defective:replace cable
but before all try this
1)go to my computer,u can see icon of scanjet 2400
2)right clk,clk get pictures.....,new window will open,
3)click preview n wait n see does it shows the preview?
4)if it shows preview then reinstall hp director,or try above mentioned steps, definately the problem will be solved,
thnx
Small white dots would indicate progressive failure of the CCD[sensor] or perhaps ingress of dirt to the inside of the glass. hard to say exactly with out seeing the machine.
The Reflective Mirror Set in the scanner were subjected to dust. Clean the Mirrors (wipe the Dust with a soft hair 1 inch Brush. Do it under an Expert's Supervision
