Eclipse MP3 Player- Wont charge. I plug it in and it shows the hourglass then it will show a computer connecting/connected to a battery but it will not charge. i'm using a laptop, could that be the problem??

I swore it off as Junk untill I took the time to figure this out.
When charging the power swith needs to be in the "ON" position.
Charge for around 3-5 hrs.
To turn device ON You hold down the Play/Pause button for quite some time, (much more time than expected from other players,cellphones or devices) the unit should power up and display "ECLIPSE".
I thought I was "taken" and strange when I saw the link for Qresolve within the files of something that did not work.
Theres even an EQ feature in the Menu and the sound is pretty decent. Good Luck!

People on other posts said to get a wall charger and that'll work. We looked for one, but couldn't find one. We ended up using a usb camera upload cord that had the same connector. It charged just fine after that. We have a 180 Eclipse mp3 player...I'm guessing they're pretty universal.
Basically, it's not your laptop, the cord they provide just doesn't work for charging.

    thank you so much for this post! I lost the cord for my daughters mp3 player, oops! never thought to use the camera cord. i wish they made just one universal cord for all devices!!!!

If you go to www.eclipsemp3.com they will send you a new cord, they are having problems with some of the power cords.

Eclipse180sl 8gb--stopped working suddenly, after 5mos. Will no longer show anything but a blank screen.

    12:40am fRI May 13 2011--My wife's Eclipse180sl 8gb stopped TODAY after working just fine since CHRISTMAS DAY. In fact, she really hasn't used it much. I have the same unit in blue-it's working by the damn PC will not 'SEE' her 8GB. It's ben driving me nuts as it keeps asking to have a driver installed yet, when i plug in my unit (same cord) everything is seen. Let's count...Dec 25th to May 11th---LESS THAN 5 MONTHS !!! She DOES miss this and all her fav MP3s. Anyone else care to help us ??? thanks in advance--I will reach out to support tomorrow--I mean LATER for it's been taken care of & handled like a baby. Try this. Turn your computer off. Plug in the mp3 via usb port with player in the on postion. Turn the computer back on. You should a large green battery symbol on the screen flashing left to right. Took me about 3 days of finally fiqure it out. Also try different USB ports if you have more than one. Good Luck

The mp3 player wont charge. plug into computer and it shows charging but as soon as it is disconnected it shuts off and wont turn on.
Some mp3's don't expressly charge on the computer, that why when you connect it, the computer only sees it as a flash but is not actually charging it all this while and the battery is completely down. So try and get an external charger for it, the battery may be completely dead.Or probably you need to change the battery. Hope that puts a smile on your face.

mine is doing the same. i have a SanDisk 4GB mp3 video player & mines went dead too and it will show it charging for a few seconds then it will just stop & it will just show the connected sign. try holding the power button for 15 to 20 seconds. maybe that'll work
