Either the connector on the set is bad or something is burned out. Try connecting to a tv or ext antenna and see what happens.

My Magnavox 42MF231D 42" T.V

You may have a weak power supply. This would indicate one or two capacitors that are weak or bad. This model may be about 4 years now and this is a good indicator as these capacitors need replacing. The other problem may be the infared board in the TV that receives the signal from the remote may be a problem as well. I would certainly investigate my first thought. The latter is kind of rare. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

Sony V lcd 32 inch losing digital channels and after doing a resetting scan it is ok for about 30 mins.... then screen image breaks up totally and message 'weak signal' shows on screen. Help, please.

You answered the question in your question.
''weak signal' means exactly that, however it can also mean the signal is too strong.

If you have a booster installed into the ariel remove it, if not, try one. Make sure the TV is directly connected to the ariel, not via a DVD recorder or any other devices which require an ariel input.

Sony tv's have very sensitive tuners installed so its just a case of making your aprticualr settings compatible.

Check signal strength over at www.digitaluk.co.uk

Thanks

The screen shows ''Weak Signal'' and no picture, even though audio is coming through from both the Cable DVR box and Blue-Ray player. The cable box connects to the TV with an HMI cable - all five TV inputs...

Mine did the same thing once. I think all I did was hit the setup on the remote, and let it run back through all the channels and then it worked just fine.

I hope this works for you.

Weak or no signal message

  1. Since my problem (Samsung/Comcast) began with a channel selection button pushed on the TV remote when it should have been pushed on the cable remote, I figured the problem lay with the TV.  Although I was getting the "weak or no signal" msg., the actual signal strength bar graphic showed it to be strong. Disconnecting did no good. I surmised that the TV was simply not recognizing the box.
  2. I looked at the manual for my Samsung 750 model.
  3. Page 20 discussed "Selecting the source". I accessed the TV menu and selected "Input", then chose the "HD..." item from the highlighted list. Voila! My tv works again.
