You need to format your camcorder's memory card using the camcorder itself. Navigate through your camcorder's menus and format it from there.

If you can't really do the format in the camcorder since it is no longer detected, try to reformat that memory in your PC using FAT (not FAT32) if there is a format option. If it is only FAT32, then format it anyway unchecking the "Quick Format" option.

Make sure that your computer is clean and no malware or viruses present since they will write a hidden files and folders in your memory card making it unrecognizable by your camcorder.

Try your luck.

What is recording medium in your camcorder? Memory card, hard drive, built in memory? If memory card or hard drive then remove it from camcorder, connect to computer and use recovery software. Hopefully camcorder doesn't do full format only quick format. If full format was performed then say good bye to your recordings. I don't kow if any recordings on internal memory can be recovered.

Memory card error

When you tried to format, did it complete formatting? If format failed then the memory is bad. Buy a replacement. Format should be completed in the camcorder for it work right.
If format completed, and you can write to and read from the memory card on the PC, then there may be a problem with the camcorder card reader. Try blowing out the card slot with canned compressed air. (Don't use a tire inflator) And gently wipe off the contacts on the card with a QTip dipped in alcohol. Good luck.

I have a camcorder Panasonic SDR-T55 and want to copy my pictures from built in memory into sd card but I don't know . Please help

You may not have that option. Most camcorders give you the option to either record to the built in memory or the SD card Flash Memory. The option to copy from the internal to SD card is device option. You can use USB, AV , cables to convert files to DVD or other formats to copy to Flash Media or DVD/ VCD/DVD RAM.Good Luck.

When i turn it on Memory card error comes up, i have changed cards, both cards worked fine before, cannot format card using camera as FORMAT is greyed out in menu and just skips over it.maybe needs reload...

Please have the memory cards checked on with another PC and if detected have the cards formatted. If so check your PC for any virus in the OS.
If there is no detection of the memory card then it is possible that the card detection slot reader is not contacting or a possible software error in the camera.

How do I format the sd card in the DMC_ZS7

Hi,

Welcome to FixYa.

To format the SD card, select [Format] from the [Setup] menu

To bring up the Menu option, press the Menu/Set button. Then select [Setup] and then select [FORMAT]. Then choose Yes to format the card.

Please note:

This requires a sufficiently charged battery, or an AC adaptor (optional) and DC coupler (optional). When
formatting the built-in memory, remove the cards.
(Only inserted card will be formatted if present; built-in memory will be formatted if no card is inserted.)
• Always format cards with this camera.
• All picture data including protected pictures will be deleted.
• Do not turn off power or perform other operations during formatting.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Memory card full now it says it is not formatted. it will not let download pics

Try using a card reader to download your pics. After that always format the memory card in your camera using its built in format program never format using your computer.

Canon Legria HF200 SDHC Initialization problem

This totally sucks. I have a similar issue with my Canon Vixia HF R20 and I'm using a Lexar Pro 64Gb 133x SDXC card. When trying to initialize the card, its fails and says "Process terminated with error." It also says "check the memory card" when I first put it in. Write-protect is off. My other SanDisk class 4 SDHC card seems to work ok.
I could have sworn it worked before and I was able to transfer videos to my Mac on 10.6, but I can't remember for sure if I was using the SDXC card or just the built-in memory. Very frustrating.

Formating memory card

You can take you memory card out of the phone, put it in a card reader and format it from your computer.

Most laptops today has a built in memory card reader.

Need to format my memory card

Hi, Your post "help me format it please" could be done by your own phone. Normally format is one of the setup functions within your phone. Alternately, you can use a memory card reader attached to a PC and the format command of the PC's OS will also work since the it will detected as a Removable Device/Storage. Please be reminded that by formatting a memory card, all its contents/data will be deleted. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.

Does formatting the camera's built-in memory delete my startup screen?

Yes. If you want to restore the same startup screen after formatting built-in memory, you will need to have the image saved to some medium. The camera's default startup image is not deleted by formatting built-in memory. Formatting a memory card does not delete your startup screen.
