If you are trying to connect to the wireless network, then first you should know all the wireless settings of the router ( SSID , Security key or password).
If you don't the wireless settings of the router , then you will need to access the router set up interface.
On the set up page of the router you will be able to find the wireless settings of the router.
Once you have the wireless settings of the router then you just need to connect to the wireless network on your computer.
For Windows XP -
In case of windows XP computer you will find the wireless network connection Icon In the bottom right hand corner. right click on it and go to the option " View available networks ". You will be able to see your wireless network. If you do not seethe icon there , then try START ==> Control panel==> network connection. You will find the wireless network connection option.right click and go to " View available networks ".
If you get the message " Windows can not configure this wireless network " , then there is another software utility on your computer which is managing your wireless network. You will need to use that utility to connect to the wireless network. Suppose you have Linksys adapter on your computer , then there must be Linksys utility on your computer which can connect you to the wireless network. if you are not able to connect using that utility then you can switch over to the Windows Utility.
If you get the message " NO wireless networks are found in the range " , Make sure that the wireless switch on your laptop is turned ON. On the laptops there might be a wireless Switch that you will need to turn on. On Some laptops the wireless switch may be the combination of Fn + F2 Or Fn + F5 Or may be different than that. Once you turn on the wireless switch you will be able to connect to the network.
If you seethe wireless network and you tried to connect to the wireless network , some times you will get the message " Waiting for the network to be ready ". That means you might have tried to connect to this network before with different wireless settings . In this case you will need to remove the network from the preferred networks and try to connect again.
WINDOWS VISTA/ Windows 7
In case of windows You will find 2 computer icon in the bottom right hand corner.Right click on it and go to the option " Network and Sharing center ". Once you open the network and sharing center you will find the option " connect to the network " in the top left hand side. Click On connect to the network and you will see the wireless network that you want to connect. If it secured network then type the network key or passphrase and you will be able to connect.
If you get the message " additional log on information required " then you will need to add the wireless network manually.
If you get the message " settings saved on this computer do not match ..." then you will need to remove the network from the preferred network list. Try to connect again.
If you get the message " Press the configuration button ..." , On the same window at the bottom you will find the option " I want to enter the key manually " or " I don't want to configure the network ..." Click On it and it will ask you for the key.
If you see " Enter PIN number " , then at the bottom you will find the option " I want to enter the key manually " or " I don't want to configure the network ..." Click On it and it will ask you for the key.
For MAC OS
In case of MAC OS, you will find the AIRPORT icon the right hand top corner. If you click On it, it will try to connect to the wireless network. If you network is secured then it will ask you for the wireless network key or password. type the key and it will connect you to the network.
If you get the message " error joining the network " and if the wireless security type is WEP, then try to connect to the wireless network again. It will ask you for the network key / password again. Now this time enter $ sign before entering the network key . It will connect you.
