The tissot visodate watch is automatic not battery driven.

I would not wind the watch manually. I also have a Tissot. If you cannot wear it often enough to keep it going, you can purchase a watch box that is made for self-winding watches which will turn the watch periodically in order to keep it wound.

The wris watch stops working and starts up after some time then stops again.

I could not find any information on your watch but if it is an automatic type (self winding), it could be that you do not move around enough to wind it up.

To fully wind it, hold it in you hand and wave it gently from side to side for about 100-200 times. This will give the spring a good store of energy. These watches usually can store enough energy to run for 2 - 3 days if nort in use.

If it is not automatic hmmm.............

How do you get started to wind a BMW watch. There is no resistance when I wind the crown. There does nt seem to be any plastic or anything in the way. I ve set the date successfully. Its a BMW Chrono...

mcdevito75 here, BMW watch, nice watch, Actually there are 2 ways to start winding an automatic or self wind watch. Since you feel no resistance in the winder (crown) which if you did, would mean the automatic mechanism is attached by gear to the mainspring and winding the crown (stem) would start the winding process. Without any resistance winding the crown, your automatic mechanism is free-lance as a way of saying, in your watch which simply means your BMW watch winds solely on wrist / arm motion. First, make sure you hear the automatic mechanism moveing inside the watch when you move the watch in almost any direction, now simply hold the watch in your hand and with a rocking motion, say from 12--to 6 rock your hand back and forth for about 30 seconds. You can also make circular motions with the watch in your hand for 30 seconds, any motion that will cause the automatic movement in your watch to move will, start the winding process. After you see you watch has started, simply wear your watch to keep it wound.

Bulova Millenia 100 m,stops running,move it to wind,starts up

When you say "wave wind" do you mean you're waving it around to wind it with the self-winding mechanism? If so, that will only keep it running briefly as you're experiencing. Manually wind the crown about 40 turns clockwise to "fill the tank" and wearing it daily will keep it topped off. Anytime you don't wear it for a day, manually wind it again. As for the cleaning, the inside of the watch doesn't get real dirty but over time the lubricants wear out and thicken which makes the watch run slowly or not as long as it has to work harder to move the gears through the thickened lubricant. A watchmaker can disassemble and clean the old lube out with solvents and then reassemble the watch with fresh lubricants.

Watch stops shortly after any movement

Automatic, or "self-winding" watches get their power from movement of your wrist throughout the day. Unless you're quite active the amount of movement is just about enough to keep it running till the next day. However, if you let the watch run down completely as you did when you were away, there is no reserve power left. The solution is simple: just manually wind the watch and you'll be good to go. To manually wind the watch unscrew the crown as if you were going to set the watch but do not pull it out as would for setting. Wind the watch about 40-50 turns and it will run fine if you wear it every day.

My watch ticks for 10 to 15 seconds then then stops then i shake it and it continues then stops again what could it be

You have an self winding watch and to wind is up fully using the self winding mechanism you need to shake it for some time.

I think it is likely that you can winding it manually using the crown. You may have to pull the crown out to find the manual winding position.

The crown may be locked in and if it doesn't pull out , try turning it anticlockwise then pull it out.

You should have some instructions with your watch, if you haven't contact your supplier and ask for a copy.

If you wish to find your nearest retailer, go to "Brietling.com" for a store locator.

My men's presidential date just is very difficult to wind. I try to wear it often, but it quits. The winding mechanism is so stiff that I can only partially wind it. It does move easily in the oposite...

If it has only recently gone stiff then it sound like a trip to the dealer for repair.

It may sound daft but all the Rolex I have examined are self winders. Is yours? (you can often hear the self winding mechanism by placing the watch close to your ear and rocking it gently).

Could it be that you need to pull out the crown to wind it?

My wifes recently repaired Rolex loses about an

Is it an automatic self wind or wind up? An automatic watch has a weight that winds the main spring and if you wind it by the crown it will not stop. If its one that you wind by hand then the watch should be wound daily at the same time...like right before bed or when she wakes up. Wind gently until it stops. That costly repair should come with a warranty so if she consistently winds daily and still loses time you need to send it back!

If the watch is an automatic then she can gently hold the watch in her hand and rock it back and forth a good 20 times or so and that will give it a good winding! This is a common issue we see at our watch repair business. Some people do not move enough during the day to keep an automatic movement wound. If thats the case then there is nothing ong with the repair, just make sure it gets a good daily wind! :-)

My watch no longer functions even after winding.

I have found that some of these "automatic" Fossils also contain a battery. That is how that provide an automatic watch at such a cheap price. I recommend taking it to a jeweler to have them check this. If it needs repair it will likely cost near the watche's replacement value.

Prague 49011G, automatic wind watch - stopped ticking

I also have a Prague automatic watch (not the same model) which I purchased in 10/06 and have had it repaired twice. If you purchased the watch new, a little white warranty paper should have accompanied it. If not, you might be out of luck. Anyhow, each Prague has a two year warranty. My warranty instructed me to send the original receipt, a check for $10 (for return shipping) and the watch to Croton Repair; 195 Anderson Avenue; Moonachie, NJ 07074. There of course is no phone number to call them. Make the check out to Croton Repair. The warranty also says they do not guarantee they will fix the watch, but they guarantee they'll send you the watch back if it cannot be repaired. It took about 5 weeks and my watch came back repaired. Unfortunately about 6 months later it broke again, same exact problem (no long self-winds, ticks or keeps time, my watch also has a diamond at each hour, two of which fell out)... I've seen a lot of the issues people are posting seem to be the automatic watches not working. Probably duds, the inner workings seem to be very sensitive.
