I have a Dirt Devil Vacuum that won't start up anymore. It was working, but then it stopped. The tube got clogged up. Now the tube is unclogged and empty and it won't turn back on. It's also hot on the bottom of it. Help? Blown fuse or what?

This is ridiculous. I have never had to do this with any vacuum I have owned in my whole entire life. A vacuum that just shuts off in the middle of vacuuming? Where does that happen? I mean I can't rate this vacuum any lower and I really had high hopes for it because it was a dirt devil and is a respectable brand. However from the day I brought this vacuum home it stopped on me. Within 30 minutes of vacuuming my living room, not the garage not outside not somewhere crazy, just my living room with normal carpet.

Some of the Dirt Devils have a reset button on the back, near the bottom. But if the it is getting hot on the bottom, that may mean the motor is trying to run but can't. Maybe something has jammed it. You would have to disasemble it to find out.

My new dirt devil vacuum cleaner. It stopped running and won't turn back on.

If it stopped from overheating because of a clog or restriction somewhere it will start back up after it cools down. If that doesn't take care of it take it to a warranty center.

Dirt devil powerburst isn't spaying cleaner anymore

Hey there Angie, this is Jeremy from Crucial Vacuum,

Sorry to hear you are having some trouble with your Dirt Devil Powerburst. Below I have listed some things you can check on to remedy the situation.
  1. Make sure that the two rubber gaskets are attached to the removable tanks (and seat properly on them).
  2. Make sure that nothing is clogged in any of the tubes or chambers.
  3. Make sure the sprayer is not clogged. Over time soap residue can harder and build-up preventing the solution to pass through.
  4. When you turn on the machine, do NOT spray it. WAIT. Run it for 60 seconds in order to prime the pumps.
  5. If that fails, you can try running a mixture of water and vinegar to try to clean the lines.

Do my Dirt Devil have a restart button it just stop running

Hi! No the vacuum doesn't have a restart button, but it does have a thermal protector that will shut the vacuum down when it is overheated. If your dirt cup was too full this will activate the thermal protector sensor. Clogs and dirty filters can cause this as well. We recommend emptying the dirt cup, tapping out the filter and checking the hose for clogs. The vacuum will come back on usually within 45 minutes to an hour. Hope this helps. Vacuum is clogged

Without specifics of Model, I can't tell you how. There are no clog ports in Dirt Devil vacuums. Usually a hose has to be removed to unclog.

Low Hose Suction, Hose is open.

thanks for the clarification.
since the hose in unclogged, the next place to look is in the body of the vacuum.
there is usually a tight turn in the dirt channel in the base. often you can see the clog if you remove the hose.

the next step is to dissasemble the base and look for the clog.

does the motor sound normal?
is the impeller turning at a normal fast rate?.

Dirt Devil Swivel Glide Platinum vacuum suction problem

Is the suction tubing in the head assembly clogged, is the belt broke? If the if the belt looks good the brush may be turned off and you may need to turn the brush switch on.

Dirt devil 12amp,Patent No.6571425

Either it needs a new belt, they stretch and break, then won't turn the brush roll. The dirt inlet by the brush roll is clogged, the hose may have a clog in it, filters are bad. If the hose comes off on one end, is there suction there, is so then the clog is farther down. If no suction, then the clog is in the hose or filter.
