Yamaha rx-365 reciever not showing all speakers

Just got yamaha rx-365 reciever and i have noticed all speakers are not showing on the front panel (only L and R) but they do show in the setup menu and i now have alot of static noise from all speakers...the only input i have currently is digital from dvr. ive checked the dvr audio settings and theyre all fine. my main concern is the speakers not showing up on the front panel...ive noticed if i run the setup proggie the audio sounds better and all show and when its done the audio is lower and the surround speakers disappear. Hopefully this makes sense =)

I,m not familiar with the Yamaha but most receivers are set up the same way. In your setup menu are the speakers marked on in the display?. Your DVR needs to be transmitting in 5.1 to start with. If this is the case then make sure you select the correct audio function on the receiver.

How do i turn on all 5 speakers for my yamaha rx-v463 receiver

Hello,
To turn on all 5 speakers from your reciever you will want to press the audio selct button on either your remote or on the front of the unit itself. This will scroll through the different sound fields and the easiest thing to do is to look at the front right of the recievers display. While scrolling through you will see the speaker icons and all 5 channels should light up when your on the correct soundfield. Dolby digital 5.1 and all channel stereo are common soundfields that use all the speakers. It is important to remember that your surround speakers are only intended to reproduce sound effects, and not full range audio like the fronts. Of course, if it is your desire you can definately override this.
Hope this helped,
Thanks

My reciever has no sound. everything else still works but it just won't put out any sound at all. yamaha RX-V863 7.1 channel. less than 6 months old.

Check your "A/B" speaker selector switch on the front panel of the receiver, if they are on, you will see "A" "B" or"AB" on the front display. If they are on, You need to have the receiver serviced. Just a note, Yamaha's rarely have an output problem! Hope this helps

No subwofer operation 2year old system

Some systems don't send signal to subwoofer if speakers in SPEAKERS SETUP are set to LARGE, they redirect signal to center and front speakers. Maybe that's problem.
