Mazda MPV Radio Problem

I have a 2000 MPV. A few months ago the radio stopped picking up stations except for one. It picked up the other stations for a little while one day, and then stopped suddenly. My husband switched antennas and that didn't help. He bought another factory model radio (used, but tested and supposed to be in good working order) and the new one has the same problem. Did we get another radio with the same problem or is there something else wrong?

your probably in a bad place and you wont pick up a signal like if your out of cell phone range, except your probably out of radio range for am stations.

The AM side of the radio receives a few local stations...the FM side works fine...are there two separate antenna...thanks

The antenna for your am receiver is located inside the radio itself and is only a couple of inches in length and about 3/8 of an inch in diameter.

Common problem... first, the antenna isn't connected directly to the radio... sometimes the junction points will crack and separate... second, sometimes the radios, radio tuner will go bad. if you have a Cherokee (not a Grand Cherokee) check you passenger side kick panel (location of a common antenna connection weak point) . Some genius placed a spring in the connection... just pull the spring out, reconnect and tape the connection together... Let me know if this helped at all... if the connections are all good, you will have to replace the radio... but, from what you described you wont have to...

How do I reset the radio stations to be programmed into the radio? I did not receive an owners manual when I purchased my 2000 Mazda MPV Minivan

TRY THIS. GO TO THE STATION YOU WANT. PUSH AND HOLD THE SELECTED PRE-SET BUTTON YOU WOULD LIKE TO PROGRAM. PUSH AND HOLD TILL THE DISPLAY OF THE STATION BLINKS OR THE RADIO BEEPS. IT WILL BE FOR A FEW SECONDS. TO CHECK, TO THE STATION THEN PRESS THE PRE-SET BUTTON TO SEE IF IT STORED YOUR STATION. LET ME KNOW.

No radio reception

MIght be an antena problem. Cheapest a quickest way to find out if the problem, your local autoparts store will sell a cheap replacement antena. Pull out stereo use this antena to check if more stations are picked up or use speaker wire about a foot or so in lenght and stick the wire in the antena port of the radio and see if you pick up stations, if so then your antena needs replacing.
