The solution can be to open the epub-file and resize some .png files which indeed were larger then 4 megapixel, and then re-package the files to .epub again.
My Step-by-step solution
1 - Crack open the .epub-file (using eCanCrusher) and look inside the "OEPBS > image" folder and find the images which are larger than 4 million pixels (for example 4267x2739 pixels).
2 - Downsize them in Photoshop to 2048 px width, and replace the orginals.
3 - Pack the folder into an .epub again with eCanCrusher.
4 - Open in iBooks and check the e-book.
4 - Validate the file using EPUB-Checker.
If you still cannot solve the problem, you can get a free media player on your PC which meet quite fewer problems. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player, which can play DVD and Blu-ray of all regions.
I also have the same problem. I just bought 2012 blu ray dvd, and tried to play on my sony blu ray player. The player kept on loading but nothing showed up. The log appears the same message 4 000000.
I thought that the disc is defective and tried to return it to the retailer. The retailer told me that Sony blu ray player needs to have the program updated. I never knew that a blu ray player needs to update its program. The retailer's sales took my disc and played on a PS3, and it worked.
I came home and went to Sony website to download a firmware update. Followed the instruction and did the update. After you update the player, it will be able to play 2012.
