Cannot Reset Infocus LP 350 Projector after replacing a bad lamp
Hi, I have (2) Infocus LP 350 projectors. The bulb was burned out on
the first one when I got it on E-bay. I have replaced the bad lamp with a
new lamp -- it did not work; the new lamp never lit up?
Then I replaced the lamp with the working lamp from
the second LP 350 projector that works. Since the projector turns off the lamp
after 2050 hours of use, I followed the procedure to reset the
recorded lamp hours (hold down left " VOLUME - " button, followed by pressing
menu button for 5 - 10 seconds). However, neither of the good lamps work in the
first projector.
A while after turning power on, the green status LED turns to orange
and blinks -- which is the indication of a lamp with over 2000 hours of service.
To confirm the procedure, I reset the lamp hours on the second projector. So I know that I
am following the correct procedure to reset the lamp hours on the first
one.
If I am interpreting the symptoms correctly, the projector responds as if the lamp is still bad, but I know it is NOT because I swapped the "new" lamp with the working lamp in the second projector (and the new lamp worked in second projector). So, the possibility of a second bad lamp is eliminated.
The status check of the recorded hours used requires a working lamp because you
have to go to the projector status information under the display of the
menu. Since the lamp does not work, I cannot confirm the reset of the lamp hours ...
I took the projector covers off to see if the "VOLUME -" switch was not making contact (which would create the condition where the lamp hours could not be reset). I was able to confirm that the "VOLUME -" switch did make contact and close with a DVM (ohm meter). I also looked for loose connections, and found none.
When I put the covers back on, the projector behaved in the same way. It is as if the projector is NOT enabling power to the lamp after the initial start up delay; instead the status LED changes from GREEN to blinking ORANGE. The projector responds to changing it to standby mode when initially started -- GREEN to ORANGE status light, not blinking. So, I am not sure what to try next ..
Can I force a "general reset" with a "hidden button", or by removing the battery under the projector lamp?
Would appreciate advise/help from anyone with similar experiences.
Projdoc: Thanks for your suggestion!! I have checked further and NO power is being delivered during lamp warm up time, so your suggestion to replace that ballast makes sense.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a source for parts numbers so that I know what to order and a source for parts so I have some idea where to order?Projdoc: Thanks for your suggestion!! That model has a history of bad ballasts. you'll need to replace it.

hi
this lamp has a small lamp pcb with a chip on it.
have u change the complete module or have just changed the bulb.
if you have just changed the bulb then u have to replace the small fuse on the chip.
this should help to reset the lamp timer!
are the leds on the top lit or blinking? it could be the lamp, the ballast, or the fans. check the lamp. if there are black spots or bulges in the lamp, replace it. if not, make sure the fans are running. if they are, replace the ballast.
Hello, Unfortunately the discoloration is caused by the extreme heat generated by the Lamp has burned the LCD optical polarization filter/elements. The only solution for this is to replace the entire LCD optical assembly.
Hello, That should absolutely reset the lamp timer. This is crucial: Press and hold the volume - button, then press the source button (while still holding down the volume - button) for 5 seconds.
Did you cancell the bulb fault status in the main menu ie bulb hours when you changed your bulbs if not try this turn unit on and see if it works it may do.
To reset the lamp hours counter press and hold down the Volume minus button - , then press the source button whilst still holding down the volume button for 5 seconds .
If this works you can then verify that the lamp counter was reset by viewing the counter in the status window in the OSM
if mains is ok and fan running ok, could be a bulb service issue, all lcd projectors have an internal lamp life counter which counts down and once the lamp has reached the end of its life it will not fire up and a new bulb will be required.
Projdoc: Thanks for your suggestion!! I have checked further and NO power is being delivered during lamp warm up time, so your suggestion to replace that ballast makes sense.
