SINGER CG 550

The metal plate covering the bobbin, keeps popping up when I sew anything....I took the two little screws holding that little surrounding the bobbin holder off the other day, and lost one screw...but I did put two screws back into it. Now the plate won't stay down. I've broken two needles already trying to sew. I don't know what else to do. I worked fine before I looked into that little hole, now it has a problem...what can I do?

It was not helpful Melissa, because I already have the guide, and there is nothing in the guide about what I've described...Thank you though.

If the plate is moving up and down eithetr the teth are set far too high pushing the plate up or the teeth are set too far forward, I would go for the first, if the teeth are coming up well above the slot they are too high, they should be set so that when you look alongside the plate you can just see the top of the teeth, you can adjust the teeth by adjusting the screws underneath the machine where the teeth are.

My bobbin case came out of my sewing machine and I can't get it back in correctly. The bobbin case moves around. I have a singer cg-500/550

I just had this same problem and although i could not find the answer online, I managed to fix it.

If you look at the bobbin case there are 3 different tabs sticking out.

First you need to have tab #1 under the main part of the machine, and #3 over top of the small twisted metal piece below the bottom fabric gripper.

The hard part is to get the second tab into the proper spot. I circled the piece that you need to move in red. If you move the little piece by pushing it with a flat screw driver, you can line up the bobbin case so that tab #2 is under the metal piece and the bobbin case will be properly set.

Don't give up! It wasn't easy to get it back but I did it, I'm sure you can too!

I just purchased a singer cg-550/500 and after threading the machine and inserting the filled bobbin, I was unable to bring up the bobbin thread with the needle. I followed the instructions carefully but...

if im not mistaken, the bobbin when you place it in the bottom, you have to thread it is as well to the part where the needle comes down and collects and goes back up. please re-look at instructions for placement of bobbin

Model CG-550. Needle hits a bottom plate. All thread and bobbin removed. Took the feed cover off. Do not see the problem.

Possible bent or wrong needle. If ok, check the zig-zag mechanism to see if it has come uncoupled from the needle mechanism. Good luck!

New Problem...I have a Singer CG-550. When I try and sew anything, the needle hits something inside where the bobbin is. The little black casing holing the bobbin keeps moving all over the place, I slip...

On the right of the black bobbin case there are two screws, you can slacken those screws off and move the bobbin case nearer to the guard leaving enough room for the thread to pass through, if the needle is hitting the bottom you may need to retime the machine.

METAL PLATE COVERING BOBBIN WON'T STAY DOWN

Take it apart again and compare the original screw with the one you substituted. If they are not the same size, you will need to get one that matches the original.

Re-place the needle plate and when firmly in place, put the screws back in.

The bobbin case on my Singer Inspiration 4210 sewing machine keeps popping up in the back causing my thread to bunch up underneath. I cleaned the bobbin case, but now it won't sew at all; the case keeps...

unscrew the black plate that holds in the bobbin case and move it over to the left just a little bit, but make sure there is still clearance between the lower right corner of the case and the plate. The case should be able to wiggle a little, but not so loose it can pop out..

Bobbin thread getting caught

Check your Instruction manual - if you have taken the bobbin case apart to clean it, the shuttle must be reinserted with the little tab pressing against the piece you mention. It is under page 45 - "Caring for your machine" in my book. I missed it the first time I cleaned and oild mine.
