DVD problem with Toshiba TV/VCR/DVD Model MW24FP1

Everything worked fine until one day the DVD started making noise like a belt grabbing when you try insert/remove a DVD. Also happens when you turn it on or off. The DVD tray won't stay in, once it goes in and starts making the noice it ejects. TV won't stay off because the DVD is trying to stay in and can't. Took off cover but you can't really see inside the DVD player.
Thanks

Now have a "new"/secondary problem. Put a little Zep spray (industrial strength WD40) on the gears that drive the drawer in and out. Now it open and closes with no noise and does not reject the tray but now it won't read a disc. Getting a message that says "incorrect disc". Does it sound like I got something on they eye? How can I clean it? Did I finish it off for good? :0)

    Thanks

I too am waiting for a solution to the problem of the noise the DVD player is making.  Mine went out after only a year.  Is there any way to bypass the internal DVD and hook up an external?  I have tried but it does not seem to work. Any ideas?

    Thanks

I've only had mine for 3 years- DVD didn't recognize 2 out of 3 discs or would cut out- started about a year ago. Today the whole picture went out. Just don't make them like they used to

My toshiba tv/vcr/dvd combo wont play dvd's anymore. Is this worth getting fixed? Is there a warrenty for the dvd ? Or should I just buy a new tv and dvd ?

No. Usually it will cost you more money than gettting it fixed. If I make a suggestion. I would get a stand alone dvd, because if the dvd goes out in the television then the tv may not work.

Cant Power up/down. DVD player wont work

You can try leaving the television unpluged for a couple of days and see if letting the circuits completely discharge will let the television reset itself to normal operation. You can also call Toshiba customer support and ask them if this problem is common and if there is a simple solution. The customer service telephone number is 1-800-631-3811. Give them the model number of your television and they will help you. I hope this information help you with your problem.

SAME TOSHIBA MW24FP1 WILL NOT LET ME INSERT A VHS TAPE

You will need to clean the DVD /VCR . It has accumulated dust and dirt in the mechanism and cannot operate normally. This may be only a cleaning job and not a electronic repair. You will need to have the television opened to clean it. You should completely clean all the components in the combination unit. You will need to check and make sure all belts and gears are in good shape and working correctly. Check out the entire television and make sure everything looks good and ready for use. This will save you from having to open the unit again, later to repair and clean the components. This cleaning can be accomplished with compressed air and brushes to clean the circuit boards and mechanisms of all dust and debris. Use small amounts of isopropyl alcohol on cotton swabs to clean off stubborn dirt and dust. After cleaning let the television complete dry and then try using the VCR and see if it works. If it still has a problem and you are sure you have check it out completely you may need the help of a service center to figure out the problem. The Toshiba customer service telephone number is 1-800-631-3811. Call them and ask them where the nearest authorized service center is in your area. You can call them and ask them if they give you a estimate of the repair costs for your model television combination unit. You can then decide if it is cost efficient to have the unit repaired. I hope this information helps you solve your problem.

Toshiba TV Combo MW24FP1, DVD player doesn't work on some discs

This is a common problem for all combo units. The high voltage of the TV section attracts large amounts of particulate dust from the air and often it collects inside the DVD unit. The best way to deal with this is to clean the lens of the DVD unit u sing a cotton swab and alcohol. The store bought "cleaners" MAY work, but that is rare. These cleaners are nothing but small brushes embedded into a disc. They attempt to brush off hte dust. This rarely works. Open up the unit (if you feel comfortabel in doing so) to access the DVD section. Remove the top cover and carefully clean the lens. That should resolve the problem.

20 INCH TOSHIBA DVD VCR COMBO, DVD KEEPS READING BUT NEVER DOES

I was having the same issue and I've been to several video stores to rent DVDs and 2 out of 3 rentals have the same affect where it is just 'reading' but even worse, it would play fine and then freeze up during the movie- very frustrating. Now, after 3 years of owning it, it died today. They just don't make them the way they used to :(
