We have a GE cooktop that is about 2 years old. We were sitting watching tv and the ignition started clicking. I did not just clean cooktop. We turned power off for night.

One of the burner switches has shorted, and needs replacement. Turn the power off to cooktop, and check with VOM if there is any continuity on any of the switches when the y are in the "off" position. Replace the one which has continuity. Some GE cooktops have an assembly of all four switches and harness. Check by model number with any parts distributor.

After igniting the cooktop, the cooktop continue to click as if it is still trying to ignite the flame. The cooktop starts fine but it continues to click.

its probably these switches that sit under the gas valve controls. One for each one. They can go faulty and stick on. Make sure these are the exact one for your model before deciding on anything.

The igniter on the right front burner of my GE Gas cooktop does not work....I must use a lighter or match to ignite....What can I do? There is no clicking sound when I turn on the burner?

all burner igniters work at the same time - you may have a faulty electronic spark unit. change the spark unit. go to repair clinic dot come for the unit. also would be wise to check the ingniter start switch on the gas burner control knob

NO cooktops will fire (ge monogram). All sparks stopped at once.

The problem is the spark module has gone bad. See this post for a similar electronic ignition cooktop for tips on how to solve your problem:

One burner requires a match to light

had same problem. Used fine sandpaper on the little head (just above the white ceramic) that creates the spark. over the years the edges of the littel metal ring had gummed up but a 1 min sanding got it down to shinny metal and it sparked nicely.

Cooktop's electronic igniter started clicking all by itself

Check to make sure your burner caps are aligned. I had this problem, and it turned out one of my burner caps was slightly askew. Putting it level fixed the problem.
