My Olympus Stylus tough 6000 will not turn on when in any picture or movie taking mode, however, it will turn on in the picture review mode so that I can browse through the pictures I have already taken, which also indicates that the battery is fully charged??? Any idea what the problem might be??

My wife's 6000 tough sat in a box for two years following her deployment to Iraq. Completely dead and unresponsive. Bought and charged a new battery... No improvement. While trying to get the photos Off the sd card, plugged the USB cable in the phone and the computer... Nothing. Out of frustration, pulled the battery and put it back in while USB was connected. The camera came back to life. Been working for the past two hours, all modes, all functions. Seems totally dead Toughs need a bit of a jump start. Hope this helps someone else.

I am also having this same problem. Screen freezes on start up showing only the screen saver for whatever mode the camera is in, or screen saver does not come up at all and screen remains grey. I have tried both xD and micro SD card with same results for both. Camera worked fine prior to last downloading pictures on laptop, and problem has existed since.

Same thing happens to me. It just beeps and shows my screensaver when in the other modes. Review mode is fine.

SOLVED! I found that by turning the camera on and then as it is turning on, rapping the camera quickly & vigorously on the palm of my hand it would finally turn on. Have to do this every tiem I turn it on now.

Best setting for a olympus stylus tough 6000

The best setting depends on what you're taking a picture of and, more importantly, what YOU want that picture to say to the viewer. The best setting for a portrait most likely won't be the best setting for a landscape, for example. You probably won't want a picture of a grandfather to convey the same impression and mood as a picture of his granddaughter, and you probably want something different for a picture of the two of them together.
That's why the camera offers so many different settings. It just takes pictures. You MAKE pictures by deciding what to include and exclude, whether you have a deep or narrow depth of field, and all the other little things.
The camera manual tells you what the various controls do. There should be plenty of introductory photography books at your local library that will explain the effects of those controls. I suggest taking one (or more) of those books, your camera manual, and the camera itself, and experimenting to see what happens with changing the various settings. Take a lot of pictures and look at them on your computer. You can always delete these pictures when you're done.

Please help my Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 seems to be stuck in playback mode. I can review the photos no problem but when I press the button to change the mode to take aphoto the screen reverts back to...

Unfortunatly the Olympus 6020 does not hav a dedicated hardreset switch, nor a key sequence to initiate reset. So if you cant get into the camera menu, and reset the camera from there. Or if that does not work. The camera has to be serviced by proffesionals.

I have a new Olympus Stylus Tough-3000. Half of my vacation pictures have disappeared. When viewing the pictures there is a frame called "Picture Error" . I had viewed the pictures...

You can use a card reader to try to download them to your computer. You could also take the card to a store like Walmart and use one of their picture making machines.

My olympus stylus tough 6000 beeps then turns off

I had the same problem and all I did was play around with the shutter .. I took a soft tooth pic and played around with the shutter, it seemed that salt from the ocean had crusted around the edges .. once removed the camera worked fine .. hope this helps

ps I had even bought another battery thinking it was the problem since when I connected the camera to the computer it worked, but I hadn't realized that when connected to the computer it's not able to take pictures, hence the shutter was not used ..
