Hi Ken,
That message means that the user account that you're logged in as doesn't have Administrator level privledges, and therefore cannot install new drivers and software. If you right-click on the program or disk, it may give you an option to Run As Administrator. This will elevate your installation to an Administrator level.

We have a Netopia USB Adapter, and we're looking for a driver for Windows 7.

Not sure this works, but here is a web address for a driver for Vista. Sometimes these work in win7.

VPN connection - Client cannot connect

Hi mwells960

Theres alot of differnet things i could ask you, but im going to assume you're jsut setting up a basic VPN. That means that somebody is telecommuting to work and wants to hit the server at work.

That means you have a static ip at work, and your at home workers has whatever, a internet connection lets say. Im thinking DSL with ATT since its a netopia 3347N.

If the netopia has a gui interface, you cant vpn thru it. Its not a VPN router. Its a residential router that you're trying to make do too much.

The sad news is, you can't upgrade it to an Enterprise having firmware router anymore, netopia use to offer that, but when Motorolla bought them out last year, they did away with that nice little feature. For true VPN'ing with a router, first, go get a VPN router to start with.

Most people accomplish what you are doing by putting the netopia in to bridegemode, and then putting a VPN router like a linksys behind it.

Could you walk me thru connecting a Netopia 3347WG router

in the ATT region, they use PPPoE (in general, even if you have sticky static IPs)

plug in the router, turn it on, open Internet Explorer and type 192.168.1.254

a little window will pop open

the username is admin, the password is the serial number on the bottom of the netopia

click on configure, then click on quickstart

type in your username (the emaill address from ATT like [email protected]) and your password for your email address

click submit underneath it

clike the yellow triangle up at the top right

click save and restart

in like 2-3 minutes, you can open IE or firefox, whatever

and see if you're online (you should be)

Netopia 3347 LAN problem

Can you ping them, there may be a type of firewall that is blocking that traffic on the netopia router. Try and ping between computers and see what you have any comminication.

Belkin usb problems

if both computer's are connected to a router. Try disconnecting power cable from router for about 30 seconds then reconnecting. The reason that I suggest this is because you mentioned that there is no packet being trans/rec. You might also want to check the IP addresses to make sure there's no interference with the other computer's IP address
